Five months after the earthquake in the Abruzzo region (Italy) which killed over 300 people, injured 1600 people and left with no house 65.000 people, there are still a lot people which do not have an accomodation (house) and neither a hope to have one before the cold Abruzzo winter (the region struck by the earthquake is one of the coldest in Italy). Prime minister Berlusconi preferred to favour the construction of new houses outside the towns which will house only 15.000 instead of the reconstruction of old buildings. There is no certainty on when these new houses will be completed. To do so 30.000 people have been forced to live in camps inside tends suffering the hot summer months for 5 months. Up to now the new houses have not been completed yet, the reconstruction of buildings has not even started and campsites have been started to be dismantled because of the approaching winter. Some people will be relocated in close hotels (especially the one with childrens) but most of them will be relocated far from their native land. People wants to reconstruct their land but the government will not let them do just because Berlusconi want to show off its supposedly great skills in facing the emergency just like in the occasion of the G8 summit (btw yesterday he proclaimed himself the best prime minister Italy ever had in 150 years). Of course since the 90% of media in Italy is controlled by Berlusconi people in Italy will never know anything about this reality. They see only what the government want them to see. Fortunately there are journals (the same journals heavily criticized in these days by Berlusconi) which from time to time update people about this situation. However only a few minority of people have idea of what it is going on.

Voor de viering van het 150 jarig jubileum van de Nederlandse spoorwegen werd er een 1100 door de werkplaats Tilburg een 1100 teruggebouwd naar haar originele uiterlijk, zoals zij door de fabriek Alsthom in de jaren 50 van de vorige eeuw werden geleverd. NS 1122 (origineel de 1125) staat te pronken in de zon.

For the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Dutch railways, an 1100 was rebuilt by the Tilburg workshop to its original appearance, as they were delivered by the Alsthom factory in the 1950s. NS 1122 (originally the 1125) is showing off in the sun.

NS DE-3 (plan-U) 131 heeft Nijmegen Heyendaal achterzich gelaten en is op weg naar haar eindbestemming station Nijmegen. Het is hier tegenwoordig behoorlijk veranderd. Alleen de tewe sporen rechts zijn nog over. Links is er een busbaan gecreerd.

NS DE-3 (plan-U) 131 has left Nijmegen Heyendaal behind and is on its way to its final destination Nijmegen station. Things have changed quite a bit here these days. Only the tewe tracks on the right are left. A bus lane has been created on the left.

After the EMU's 803 and 502 had collided with an agricultural vehicle the first bogie of EMU 803 derailed. THe railway crane (80 84 97-41 503-1 ) came to the rescue. Although the damages to the overhead catenary was severe, there were no casualties.

NS Hondekop treinstellen 1711, 353, 381 en 1970 zijn tusssen Soestduinen en Den Dolder onderweg richting Utrecht CS. In Utrecht zulllen de treinstellen worden gesplitst, waarbij een deel richting Den Haag gaat en het andere deel richting Rotterdam zal rijden.
