The Severn Bridge is a motorway suspension bridge that spans the River Severn between Bristol in England and Monmouthshire in South East Wales.

It is the original Severn road crossing between England and Wales, and took three and a half years to build at a cost of £8 million at the tome, replacing the 137-year-old Aust Ferry.

The bridge was opened in 1966 by Queen Elizabeth II and for thirty years, the bridge carried the M4 motorway. It was granted Grade I listed status in 1999.

Following the completion of the Prince of Wales Bridge, the section of motorway from Olveston in England to Magor in Wales was designated the M48.

The Akrep 48 rolled off the assembly lines in post-war Iksandria, but the tank has seen service around the world on a scale almost comparable to the MeMe-21 fighter. It earned a reputation as a capable medium tank with a solid balance of speed, armor, and punch, but all of that pales in comparison to its service life. The '48 has fought Xinhai communists in the fifties, Samarians in the sixties, and is still serving small nations like Chad and Giraffistan in the early nineties.

Pont Gwy is a cable stayed bridge across the Avon Gwy / River Wye, with a complete length of 408 m / 1340 ft. Opened in 1966 as part of the M4 and linked to the Severn Bridge, it was built by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company.

Completion in 1996 of a new bridge and approach roads downstream saw this route redesignated as the M48. In 2021 there were suggestions that it could lose motorway status as it did not match modern standards and could not easily be upgraded to do so.

The Severn Crossing is actually two separate crossings formed by bridges that span the River Severn, connecting Gloucestershire in England and Monmouthshire in Wales.

The first of these was the Severn Bridge, a suspension bridge located south of Chepstow that opened in 1966. The bridge originally formed part of the M4 until the motorway was relocated in 1996 and the road renamed the M48.

The Second Severn Crossing — officially called the Prince of Wales Bridge — is a cable-stayed bridge located to the south of the original Severn Bridge. Since it opened in 1996, the bridge has formed part of the M4 that connects England and Wales.

NS 255, the very last Norfolk Southern roadrailer, slows down as it meets an M48 in the siding at Sidney, Illinois. 255 taking the siding track to meet the M48 allowed us to get them at one more spot between Catlin and Tolono, having to slow down to 30 mph for the crossovers (8/25/24).

The Second Severn Crossing marks the lower limit of the River Severn and the start of the Severn Estuary. It is further southwest than the Severn Bridge and because it is closer in-line with the landward sides of the M4, it reduces the length of the journey when travelling between England and Wales. The junctions at each end are designed for most traffic to use this crossing, and in order to use the old Severn Bridge crossing, one has to leave the M4 at junction 21 and join the M48 near Aust or at junction 23 near Magor. The new crossing carries more traffic than the Severn Bridge, which is still in use. It is much wider than the Severn Bridge, having three lanes and a narrow hard shoulder each way, compared to the two lanes, cycle path and narrow footpath of the original crossing. It is a cable-stayed bridge, whereas the Severn Bridge is a suspension bridge. The position of the bridge is close to that of the Severn Tunnel, which has carried the railway line beneath the river bed since 1886.

My first stab at a smaller scale vehicle. The design is 100% my own and I plan an using it for a bigger project, which I may or may not finish. It doesn’t quite look right, but just enough to pass as an M48. I need to reshape the turret rear and possibly switch to a larger barrel for the commanders cupola.

The Centurion, introduced in 1945, was the primary British main battle tank of the post-World War II period. It was a successful tank design, with upgrades, for many decades. The chassis was also adapted for several other roles.

Development of the tank began in 1943 and manufacture of the Centurion began in January 1945, six prototypes arriving in Belgium less than a month after the war in Europe ended in May 1945. It first entered combat with the British Army in the Korean War in 1950, in support of the UN forces. The Centurion later served in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, where it fought against US-supplied M47 Patton and M48 Patton tanks and they served with the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in Vietnam.

Israel used Centurions in the 1967 Six Day War, 1973 Yom Kippur War, and during the 1978 and 1982 invasions of Lebanon. Centurions modified as armoured personnel carriers were used in Gaza, the West Bank and the Lebanese border. The Royal Jordanian Land Force used Centurions, first in 1970 to fend off a Syrian incursion within its borders during the Black September events and later in the Golan Heights in 1973. South Africa used its Centurions in Angola.

It became one of the most widely used tank designs, equipping armies around the world, with some still in service until the 1990s. As recently as the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict the Israel Defense Forces employed heavily modified Centurions as armoured personnel carriers and combat engineering vehicles. The SANDF still employs over 200 Centurions. The South African vehicles were modernized in the 1980s, and the resulting model is known as the Olifant.

Between 1946 and 1962 4,423 Centurions were produced, consisting of thirteen basic marks and numerous variants.

Well I guess I've hopped on the bandwagon now lol.

Anyway, thought it was time to update my Sherman. The front is a little interesting. I wanted to try something new with the wedges instead of slopes, feed back is much appreciated. I still need to change the turret, but I'll save the for a later date due to lack of parts. Sadly that also goes for the M48.

New to London Transport 4/1979 as M48

M48 A2GA2 Patton II at the "Stahl auf der Heide" event of the Munster tank museum.

Sunset behind the 'new' M4 Severn crossing as seen from the 'old' M48 bridge. The incoming tide was covering the mudflats and these posts fairly quickly (I think these used to be used with nets strung across them to trap fish on either the incoming or outgoing tides).

They don't look that far below but I can definitely say the M48 bridge is high enough to make you feel a little strange if you lean over the railing to take pictures! That aside it makes for an excellent and unusual walk between England and Wales.

First vehicle I've made in quite a long time. Stared working on it last week, and finally finished it, The turret is a little iffy but oh well. Also I know it looks really short length wise in the photo, but it's longer irl.

Hope you guys like it.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on what to change or improve. Thanks!

At WWB Anaheim 2017, I picked up Cody's M48 Patton. (You can see it in my WWB moc photos) I had a distaste for the wheel design as it would eventually ruin the tires. So I built the tank without the wheels and it sat that way for months before I did anything with it. Eventually I replaced the brown on the back, designed and built a wheel design for the road wheels and the return rollers and changed the canvas cover to black as the tan, dark tan and reddish brown didn't look right. Overall this is my 2nd favorite BM kit, the first being the M60 which is getting similar upgrades and will be posted soon.
