A fun night - had to give it a try.

Taken at 200 ISO, Manual Mode, Manual Focus, spot metering and 2 sec delay on the shutter. Tripod mandatory. 200mm. Severely cropped, but that 200 mm did a heck of a job.

This is two shots merged - one exposed to the light, and one exposed to the dark. I drove out of town a ways to get away from the city lights.

Shot in Toronto, ON. The cloudy day takes away a large chunk of the entire eclipse, but the sky does clear up a bit for the last few minutes of lunar eclipse.

Pictures of the rare event of the Generation, Super Blood Moon 2015.

Total Lunar Eclipse taken from Elkins, WV on March 14th 2025 at 0625UT.This image shows the Japanese Lantern effect which is noticeable up to 5 minutes before and after the total eclipse. The blueish tint that gets mixed into the colors is caused by ozone. Light passing through the upper stratosphere penetrates the ozone layer, which absorbs red light and actually makes the passing light ray bluer. Taken at the Hampton Inn. Drove from Maryland to avoid the forecasted clouds. Taken with Canon T7i camera through Williams Optics 132mm refractor telescope.

My sister (known as Graciegreen on the blogosphere) took these awesome pictures of the Lunar Eclipse Sunday night. She has a much better zoom lense than I have!

I didn't expect to see this, as the weather has been crap the last few days, but it cleared up in time for me to catch this! It's not the sharpest photo, but I was using a seventeen year old digicam to capture it.

Today's total lunar eclipse occurred around 3am in the UK.

series of photos of lunar eclipse as viewed from central USA (Arkansas) evening of Sunday, January 20th.

Taken on a NYC rooftop (2nd ave and 9th to be precise) during the lunar eclipse in November of 2003. It took 6 hours in the freezing cold to take this photograph and I sang Van der Graaf Generator songs out loud to keep me warm. Occasionally, my friend Alex would appear with a thermos of hot chocolate which I discovered to be laced with whiskey.

Much thanks to Dwight Primiano who lent me his camera when I didn't have one this day.

A composite of the lunar eclipse at Sand Hollow Reservoir in southern Utah. Images taken using a 5DMKii and Tamron 70-200 2.8.

The moon getting out of the earth shadow.

During the lunar eclipse, the moon did not GRAB THE SPOTLIGHT of the sun FOR ITSELF. Instead, we saw the dimmer moon SHINE ON EVERYONE with a BEAUTIFUL show.

helaas had ik mn 300 mm lens niet bij me en moest ik het doen met 200 x2, wat veel te weinig is. Toch maar geprobeerd ...

Lunar eclipse this morning

Total Lunar Eclipse taken from Elkins, WV on March 14th 2025 at 0705UT Hampton Inn. Drove from Maryland to avoid the forecasted clouds. Taken with Canon T7i camera through Williams Optics 132mm refractor telescope.

I was able to see the Lunar Eclipse on March 14, 2025 from an open window in my pajamas, thus I did not have to go outside.

The temperature outside was -1C or 30F.

I used a Nikon Coolpix B700 camera on mini tripod for the eclipse pictures while my wife took the above photo with an iPhone camera.
