All of these Lunar Eclipse Images were taken by Johnny. So all the credit goes to him. We are so proud and very impressed with his photos. He went to bed rather early last night and set the alarm so he could capture this amazing event. You might need to zoom in a little to see the top three photos starting from the right

Blood Moon is upon us

Partial Lunar eclipse

It's not a great shot. I decided to go for high magnification. That may have not been the best choice.

Quick sequence obtained with the shots taken during the small partial lunar eclipse that occurred in the early hours of September 18, 2024 observed from Oria, Italy.

Maximum at 2:44 UTC.

Taken with LZOS 500mm f8 3M-5CA MC + Canon EOS 4000D 1/250s @200 ISO

400 shots in 3 hours and the result is worth the effort. You call it a Blood moon or Super moon or Wolf moon but it's a beautiful phenomenon...

At 3am we walked home as the moon moved out of totality. The quiet was broken by birdsong and was a sweet echo of the geese honking wildly when the moon disappeared. It was a poetic reminder that this is reality… regardless of the asshats in DC….can they tariff Bird song? The Canadian Geese’ migration? They can try…they might! In the end nature always wins. Their game is a bit like speed chess at present… terrible winners and losers who cheat because no one holds them accountable. With no shame or honor they will shoot themselves in the foot and then try to change the rules to their advantage. Frank Zappa fortold this long ago… Don’t eat the yellow snow!

3/4 eclipsed Super Blue Blood Moon

Timed 1 minute apart. About 45 minutes before it turned orange. See here www.flickr.com/photos/jchilders/13872548845/ Nikon D7000

The full Moon with colors exaggerated.

The Moon's rocks are remarkably neutral gray and actually quite dark. By cranking up the color saturation (saturation and vibrance to maximum in Lightroom), the slight color differences do appear. (I'm not a geologist so don't know what those different minerals are, but I guess we could look it up.)

Super Blood Wolf Moon 2019.01.20

Got up really early this morning to watch and capture the lunar eclipse. Here are some of my captures in a collage. Unfortunately my "old" camera didn't work as well as I hoped for and at the end the camera fogged up ;-( Oh well - the next blood moon is April 15, 2015 ;-)

Now I'm on my way to catch up with everybody - sorry I'm so far behind again!!

What time will you be able to view the Super Moon Eclipse?

The images below show times to view it for Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), Central Daylight Time (CDT), Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

All of South America and most of North and Central America will see the entire eclipse, while those west of roughly 120°W will see it in progress at moonrise. You won’t need special equipment to see it. Just go outside and look up!
