Napier is known for its compliment of Art Deco buildings and this Victorian-Edwardian structure, today the 18 room County Hotel.
The County Hotel building was originally constructed in 1909 for the Hawke’s Bay County Council.
It is the only building of significance that survived the devastating 1931 Napier earthquake. The buildings reinforced concrete construction helped it survive.
The building remained location of the Hawke’s Bay County Council administration until 1987.
1993, restoration work began to return the building to its former glory and to transform it into a boutique hotel. Original Edwardian Gothic features with Art Deco influences have been preserved.

J'ai fait le choix de la fleur de cet arbuste à double floraison qui rythme l'année.
Sensuels et jubilatoires, véritable appel aux plaisirs des sens, les vingt-huit peintures et quinze dessins de Nicolas Poussin exposés au musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon sont aux antipodes de l’austérité prétendue du chantre du classicisme. Car tout théoricien et philosophe qu’il fut, il était aussi un homme porté par le plaisir de peindre, qui médita sur les joies et les tourments de l’amour, décortiquant chaque ressort de la passion amoureuse. Avec les Métamorphoses d’Ovide comme inépuisable source d’inspiration.

Bologna has the largest medieval centre of any Italian town except Venice, despite substantial damage during WWII.

Bologna dates back 2,500 years, when the Etruscans first occupied the site. It was still an important city later, under the Romans, and many of the streets in the centre of the town still follow the original Roman layout.
Following a few centuries of decline with the end of the Roman empire, Bologna regained its importance in the 11th century when the Bologna university opened in 1088 and is now Europe's oldest university.
It was during the 11th-15th centuries that many of the fine buildings, palaces and arcades in the town were constructed.
