Seven-spotted ladybug (also called ladybird)

"The ladybug is considered the messenger of heaven from the mother of god. He should protect the children and heal the sick when he comes to them. However, you must never shake it off or even kill it, otherwise you will attract misfortune.

The name Ladybird also points to this: Because of their usefulness for agriculture, the farmers believed that the beetles were a gift from Mary (mother of Jesus) and named them after her. The seven-spotted ladybird is called "Maria's key maid" in Sweden. The seven points are said to refer to the seven virtues of Saint Mary."

#Macro #Lucky #Chance #LuckyCharm "SmileonSaturday

That day, it was raining hard!

For the theme "Three" of the group "Looking close on Friday"

A four-leaf clover is considered lucky because of its extreme rarity (only about 1 in 10,000), its association with ancient legends, and the symbolism of its four leaves. Ancient Druids believed it was a powerful charm to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune. According to tradition, the four leaves represent faith, hope, love, and luck.

Now, I know that none of these clovers have four leaves, yet nonetheless, my Great Grandmother always called this Edwardian Art Nouveau 18 karat brooch studded with seed pearls that was given to her by my Great Grandfather, her lucky charm. The brooch was bought from Liberty of London in Regent Street, and was made by one of their artisan jewellers, so I suspect that it is a unique piece of jewellery, as they so often were being exponents of Style Liberty - the British Arts and Crafts Movement. I have certainly never seen another like it in my travels.

The theme for Looking Close on Friday for Friday 28th of November is "lucky charm", so I immediately thought of my Great Grandmother's Art Nouveau lucky charm. I hope you like my choice for this week's theme, and that it makes you smile!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Saint Christopher is widely considered a bringer of luck and good fortune, especially in the context of travel. While his origins are religious, his image has transcended faith and is commonly used as a secular talisman for safety and protection during journeys and new adventures.

Every time I am at the beach I walk along the shore to find and collect rocks. I love how smooth beach rocks feel and find it interesting how over time the waves will make them smooth. One of my quirks is I keep one in my car and one in my pocket. If I am feeling a little worked up or anxious I will hold it and move it around in my hand which helps calm me down and ground me. I get excited when I can find the heart shaped stones like this one, which is my lucky stone. ❤️

Thanks for your visit! Happy MM!

Repost 14.7.2018 for SoS

"The hamsa (Arabic خمسة ḵamsa, lit. 'five', referring to images of 'the five fingers of the hand'), also known as the hand of Fatima, is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout North Africa and in the Middle East. Depicting the open hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many times throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye." (Wikipedia)

A new year is like a blank book, and the camera is in your hands. It is your chance to write a beautiful story for us and yourself.

This is my lucky Angel. She is hand carfted from local artist. She is known as a Travel Angel. She make sure you get to where your going safely. She rides with me in my backback in her little teal satin bag and goes every where I do. I it is a rare occasion and I am using a purse, she is transferred over. I didn't have time to take a current picture of her but she was a choice I had for another SoS theme. Lucky day to all. (;-D

(The Angel is carrying you and protecting you on your travels. My Wonderful Mother gave me this Travel Angel when I starting riding over 16yrs ago. I have a small Angel collection)

Non potrò non vincere, la prossima volta che giocherò a burraco!! :-))

This a lucky charm for wealth I bought in Kyoto.

I wish it can bring me prosperity and wealth!

One of my employers vendors sends my co-workers and myself this lucky red envelope every year and I do keep it in my wallet. They include the dollar bill with it and I save it till the New Year when they send a new one. I look forward every year for this custom.

Happy Smile on Saturday and have a lovely weekend!

YES, According to AI...

Yes, a dandelion is considered a lucky charm and a symbol of wishes, hope, and dreams because of the tradition of blowing its seeds into the wind. This practice is thought to carry one's wishes to the universe, and various folklore traditions link the dandelion to luck, protection, and new beginnings.

GROUP: LOOKING CLOSE ON FRIDAY

THEME: LUCKY CHARM

SUBJECT: AS SHOWN

25mm ancient cuneiform coinage - now amulet

One of my attempts at the "Crazy Tuesday" theme "Lucky Charm"

Shot with a Schneider Kreuznach "Xenon 75 mm F2 (fixed aperture)" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

"Looking close... on Friday!" and "Lucky Charm"

This will be my future lucky charm, because my granddaughter Tara made it literally in 10 minutes. When we were looking at pictures on Flickr on the subject of Lucky Charm, she asked me why I didn't have a picture. When I answered that I don't have a lucky charm, she took out her beads and made this one for me, which I had to take a picture of and add to the group.

(by phone again, because all this happened in the last half hour )

HLCoF!

I gave this "lucky" glass stone to my granddaughter and she has kept it for over a year now! When she arrived for Thanksgiving week she showed it to me and I immediately thought, "Volia!" I now have something to shoot for this week's theme! I began thinking that believing in a lucky charm might help you feel more confident. So while there is no hard truth behind a lucky charm, like Santa at Christmas, I believe and so does my granddaughter.

ALMOST A CIRCLE is the topic for October 4th - 10th 2025, Group Our Daily Challenge

---------------------------

Two horseshoes doing their best to form a circle, but like true good luck charms, they prefer to stay open to new possibilities. Who needs perfect geometry when double the luck is nailed to the door? A duo that says: “Only good vibes allowed in here!”

----------------------------

These are just cufflinks but they were made to make people remember to call for help in case of fire (Brand), need for police or ambulance... Really lucky charm if you could dial Hjælp (help) i.e., "0". The cufflinks I got from the "in laws" and they just bring held... more than 50 years later.
