I have returned from a five-week birding tour across Southern Texas, from west to east.
The Lucifer Hummingbird seemingly can be found in two spots in the United States, both just across the Mexican Border: Southeast Arizona and Big Bend NP, Texas. Otherwise, they live in central and southern Mexico. The funny thing is they don't appear in large numbers like other HBs of the Southwest. They seem to adopt one location and stick with it.
Crocosmia 'Lucifer' Montbretia, not in Wales, but in my garden earlier on. These tall, showy plants did very well this year.
A brisk morning walk on a cold and windy beach with squalls flying across from Devon. Perfect after a late night of jumping about . No Lucifer, by British Sea Power was my first song where the bears came to play, so that's fine for this imminent downpour.

Here's another hummingbird from my recent trip down to Arizona.
This was one of the "checklist-birds" that attracted birders from all over the country to one particular location:
Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary
(Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora 'Lucifer')
Diese beeindruckende Gartenpflanze Montbretie 'Lucifer' ist zweifellos in der Lage, jedem Garten eine besondere Atmosphäre zu verleihen.
Jetzt im Sommer (Juli bis September) kann man sich an dem exorbitanten Farbenspiel erfreuen.

Lucifer Crocosmia after a rain. The hummingbirds love them!! Unfortunately the flowers don't last long. They sure are pretty while they do last though!

Lucifer falls is a tall water fall in
Robert H. Treman state park, Upstate New York.
Used an ND1000 filter to slow down the shutter.
I do wish there were more water, maybe spring would bring more water.

The only other time I have seen this species is at this same spot (when it was the Ash Canyon B and B), back in August of 2004. Now they are "common" here! This little one seemed more calm and deliberate in his movements around the feeders, compared to his busy-body companions of other hummer species.

We have several of these coming to our feeders in the Davis Mountains of west Texas.
After breeding farther south in Texas, Lucifer hummingbirds wander the area.
I'd prefer not to take pictures of hummingbirds sitting on feeders, but... this is cool bird.
From my trip to Arizona in August, this was one of the sought-after hummingbirds that was showing up at Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary (Sierra Vista area).
Lucifer hummingbirds nest further south in west Texas, but wander after mating. We are lucky they wander up here in the Davis Mountains.

These birds wander in the Davis Mountains after breeding farther south. He has quite a bit of pollen on his bill.
Crocosmia Lucifer thrives in our garden! This variety is tall - very tall: 1m60 and produces these vibrant flowers that last long. The bulbs multiply easily: we've handed them out to friends and they produce flowers in their gardens too.
Have you ever watched the series "Lucifer"? Vendetta's new skin totally inspired me to create a character like the Lucifer in the series :3!!! Hope you like it~
