I need to get over to @LowellObs to visit the new Discovery Center that opened up last weekend. Pic from a few weeks ago visiting the Giovale Open Deck Observatory, up yonder along the stardust trail.

Altocumulus seems to be the sky mode every time I try to get shots here.

The Dome houses the Lowell Observatory 7 ton Clark Telescope, built in 1896.

A beautiful crepuscular ray was seen at 180 degrees from what I was actually attempting to photograph. This one did not last long and I managed to get both shots. Nikon D-90, 28-300mm

On June 6, a NASA social media event was held at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, to discuss the New Horizons spacecraft and its upcoming flyby of the dwarf planet Pluto, scheduled July 14. More than 30 NASA social media followers from across the country applied for and were selected to attend the event, at their own cost.

The New Horizons spacecraft is part of NASA’s New Frontiers program and is managed by Marshall.

Grand Canyon Trip - 1985 - Lowell Observatory

A view of Flagstaff from the observatory. Gorgeous sky!

The main building and a statue of Percival Lowell, I would guess. We walked up to Mars Hill from Flagstaff.

Yes, you get to look through the scope that mapped the moon for the Apollo landings.
