Went up to Mars Hill and tried out my 17mm tilt-shift lens, new Benro CF tripod and Gitzo ballhead. All very nice. These shots are not HDR, but are composites of multiple exposures.

This is the main gate to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. It was built by Percival Lowell, an astronomer who had done many observations of Mars and had predicted that another planet (Planet X) was influencing the orbit of Neptune. This observatory is where Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto. For a while, Pluto was thought to be Planet X, but it has since been found to be much too small.

We drove to Flagstaff, to view the universe from the Lowell Observatory. We viewed Saturn up close for the first time, through this telescope, the McAllister. It was fucking mind blowing.
