The Shot

This is a shot of the entrance to the Natural History Museum in London taken on a visit last month.

The picture was taken handheld with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. 3 raw images 2EV spacing for HDR. Opened in Photoshop first and each image noise reduced with Noiseware Pro and saved as tiffs.

The HDR was created using Photomatix and additional enhancements in Topaz adjust and adjustment layers in Photoshop.

土耳其-Nevşehir省-卡帕多西亚-乌奇萨城堡

The natural rock citadel of Uçhisar Castle, 5 km west of Göreme, a UNESCO world heritage site situated in Nevşehir Province, in the Cappadocia Region, Central Anatolia of Turkey.

Uçhisar is the tallest point in Cappadocia, visible for a great distance from the region's other towns such as Ürgüp and Avanos. Riddled with tunnels, it was used for centuries by villagers as a place of refuge when enemy armies overtook the surrounding plains.

PORTO (Portugal): Sinagoga Kadoorie Mekor Haim.

Bodmin moor last night .

Thought i would try something different from the normal coast shots , so i headed up in to the

Moors with Mark . Believe it or not i have lived in Cornwall for sixteen years and never set foot on the place , let along photograph it [ disgraceful ] . I don,t think i have ever been in such a quite location ever before , undisturbed for millions of years , and as barren as far as the eye can see , you kind of feel as though you have steeped back in to stone age times

After a lot of time spent looking for the most suitable composition we settled on this location as we thought it had plenty of depth and interest through our the whole frame . We knew that there was a good chance of some descent light and it did,n,t disappoint as the valley was constantly changing colour through out the evening and we managed quite a few frames by the time we had finished . In fact it was pitch black by the time we packed up and headed home , we lost our bearings and got lost in the dark , stumbling around in circles up to our knees up in thick peat bog with heavy bags on our backs , we got to the point of looking for some where dryish to kip for the night , but kept searching until we found a way out , eventually getting home late soaking wet , cold and caked in thick mud as i all so fell over in it . Who was it that said landscape photography is relaxing .

I am very impressed with the image quality with the Sony FE 16-35mm f4 lens. It is very sharp corner to corner.

The image shows a modern building with a curved metal facade and blue reflective glass windows. The blue sky can be seen in the background. The image is taken from a low angle, which makes the building look even more imposing.

“He who does not travel does not know the value of men.” – Moorish proverb

Sultan mosque, also known as Masjid Sultan, located along Arab Street in the Kampong Glam area is the traditional heart of Singaporean Muslim life. The grand Sultan Mosque has the familiar onion dome and Moorish styling of the Arabic Muslim influence.

The street leading up to this impressive view is lined with sidewalk cafes, restaurants, fashionable boutiques and souvenir shops.
