Looking close… on Friday! Theme: Grasses

These were given to us by a client who raises chickens. He told us the tiny egg on the bottom left is called a virgin egg. First egg a chicken produces. We did not eat it!

For Looking Close on Friday, I found this red flower that had fallen from a red sage plant that was growing in a compost pile in our backyard. ❤️🌺🌹

Looking close… on Friday! Theme: clothes pegs

September 2nd looking close…on Friday’s theme is “damaged”.

Den här lilla söta krokodilen och hans tre vänner håller badhandduken på plats med sina tänder på stranden.

Speciellt användbart om det blåser.

This cute little crocodile and his three friends keep the beach towel in place with their teeth on the beach.

Especially useful on a windy day.

Looking close... on Friday! theme : Toy Cars

The toy cars in my picture were used by my husband when he was a young boy. On one of them, a small wheel is missing. The accident happened a long time ago! Nobody remembers who was responsible. My husband swears it was not him! Yeah, right! 😉

One can say that an abused toy is most certainly a good toy. There is no doubt that he liked these toys!

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

I photographed this mute swan on the River Stour, Dorset. It was sat upright but seemingly fast asleep as it floated downstream. The water droplet is on an Angel’s Breath flower. Best viewed large.

(To refract the image through the droplet, I displayed the photo on a tablet with a high res screen.)

Thank you for looking. Views, likes or comments are always appreciated.

This blue glass salt (salt dish) of six centimetres in diameter dates from the early 1920s. It has a beautifully executed intaglio of a classical Roman maiden and a cherub who look like they are about to kiss. The intaglio is designed by Czechoslovakian glass maker Heinrich Hoffman. An intaglio is an engraving or incised figure in stone or other hard material (in this case glass) depressed below the surface so that an impression from the design yields an image in relief.

The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday” on the 5th of February is “blue on a black background”, so I thought this beautiful little blue glass salt would suffice. It has been photographed sitting on a piece of French black velvet.

Heinrich Hoffmann (1875 - 1939) was prominent among glass makers at the luxury level of vanity glass production. Heinrich’s reputation as the specialist for articles made of jet black crystal was established in Paris just prior to the time of Lalique´s venture into glass. Heinrich’s´s vanity pieces followed the Art Deco ethic in shape and subject, but echoed an Art Nouveau stylization late into the 1920s. Production was handled by various Czechoslovakian contract factories and cottage finishers, with jewelled bronze mounting completed in Austria, and sales transacted in Paris. The realistic glass jewels manufactured in Gablonz are legendary and were used also in the thinner brass Czechoslovakian mountings of the 1930s, as well as later in costume jewellry by names such as Chanel, Dior, Schiaparelli and Hattie Carnegie.

I had to get out my DSLR for this one. I used a +4 Tameron lens filter to get in close with a narrow focal point. I need a macro lens, and to get my camera checked. It keeps freezing up with an error message...ugh! Anyway, the unblurred medallion is 1" wide by 2" long. For Looking Close on Friday "jewellery selective colour". Full color photo in first comment. Happy Friday everyone!

The Red Faerie knows where to find the very best magical red mushrooms and toadstools in the forest with the assistance of the Red Cardinals and Red Robbins in the trees and her red eyed grey wolf, whose nose can sniff them out from a mile away.

The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday!” is “mushrooms”.

I thought my Playmobil fungi were a suitable choice.

Two of the wonderful things that attract people, young and old alike, to Playmobil are their vibrant colours and the array of different items that are produced.

Playmobil is a line of toys produced by the Brandstätter Group, headquartered in Zirndorf, Germany. Production began in 1974. Playmobil began to be sold worldwide in 1975, and by 2009, approximately 2.2 billion Playmobil figures had been sold. The signature Playmobil toy is a 7.5 cm tall human figure with a particular smiling face. A wide range of accessories, buildings and vehicles, as well as many sorts of animals, are also part of the Playmobil line. Playmobil toys are produced in themed series of sets as well as individual special figures and playsets. New products and product lines developed by a 50-strong development team are introduced frequently, and older sets are discontinued. Promotional and one-off products are sometimes produced in very limited quantities. These practices have helped give rise to a sizeable community of collectors.
