I went outside to water the plants this morning and found both of my cats staring back out at me. They had been watching the birds at the birdfeeder until I scared them all away with the water hose.

Even shoes want to go play in the water, dontcha know?

Aineko has a thing about sleeping on office machinery. She's often to be found snoozing happily on this binding machine, but I also catch her on the guillotine from time to time.

Eager to catch the fall colors, we took a week in late autumn and headed to Austria and Italy for a road trip exploring the back roads while chasing creative photography opportunities.

Solitary confinement cell. Took forever to shoot this -- tourists kept wanting to look in here to see who was inside.

Peeking out from one of the caves at Lake Lenore. These caves were formed by giant ice age waterfalls, which undermined the soft basalt rock cliffs. I was wondering how often rocks fell from the roof of the cave.

Mini Grand Tour of Europe - Holland and Switzerland, June 2019

I slept on the fold-out bed downstairs with the television on, so I could wake up at 3am to watch Mr. Obama put his hand on a bible and stumble through a few words. Quite predictably, I got a terrible few hours' sleep, and after the helicopter left I went back upstairs to my real bed and slept very soundly for a while longer.

I still woke up in the morning channeling Dick Cheney, with a post-Inauguration day backache, caused by awkward sleeping and the galivanting about yesterday.

Still, that's nothing to do with this photo. It was early evening, the light was pretty in my bedroom, and I took a picture hanging onto the windowsill. Then I stopped and thought about it, and the symbolism of the wonderful light, and looking out into it, a shiny new world, seemed somehow appropriate.

The rain knocked out our DSL again...such that I was only able to upload 3 out of 4 of these photos last night, and unable to tag or title any of them...which rankled my OCD-addled self.
