1st square of log cabin blanket

Near Rising Sun, Indiana. This is the log cabin mentioned in the next picture in my photostream. The picture was taken a year or so before the other one. The grounds look considerably more manicured than they did when we were working on the cabin and addition some thirty-five or more years ago and there are trees where there weren't before. A couple of owners after my friend sold the property, the current owner built a Mc Mansion and created a new lake just down the hill from here. He doesn't use the cabin much anymore except to house visitors.

Pine logs are displayed in a post card that might have been taken anywhere in the Intermountain West in the early 1900s. This image ended up in a collection gathered by James Floyd of Klamath Falls. He donated the collection to the Klamath County Museum in 1973.

Last summer my brother and grandfather reassembled a 19th century log cabin. It was originally build without any nails, but they decided to utilize power tools :) Here are some photos of the building process, including shots of the old weathered wood itself.

A beginning. I'm really interested to see how this one progresses :)
