The final arrangement (sorry, picture taken at night, not a very good shot). Pictures hung, Zach's bed in place under it (a simple foldout). I still have some small work to do, but it's enormously comfortable.
loft dress - Sibyl
This avant garde dress was hand made by me using black vintage crepe.
The word sibyl comes (via Latin) from the Greek word σίβυλλα sibylla, meaning prophetess. The earliest oracular seeresses known as the sibyls of antiquity, "who admittedly are known only through legend" prophesied at certain holy sites, under the divine influence of a deity, originally— at Delphi and Pessinos— one of the chthonic deities. Later in antiquity, sibyls wandered from place to place.
Loft dress can be worn as a long dress or tunic paired with leggins and military boots, that's how I see it.
The fabric is a vintage pleated sheer crepe in black. I used it for the whole top layer. The other fabric is a matching satin for the bottom construction and black lace for the embellishments. Dress has two "leaf" appliques, LOFT cotton appliques and comes with a matching belt made of ruffled taffeta and cotton.
Size is free between Small and Medium (EU: 36/38)

A problem at the cottages was caused by the territorial behaviour of nesting Crows on seeing their reflection in the window glass. The crows assumed this reflection was a rival moving in on their'patch' and would peck at the glass furiously. Aside from causing damage to their beaks the behaviour was chipping away at the wooden window frames. Rather than resort to any proactive deterrent methods such as noise, shooting or poisin this passive replica of a predator was erected and has seemed to have 'done the trick'

new sheets, new comforter, new duvet cover (compromised on color,
wanted a dark rust color, but it was just too expensive). Not visible,
new Serta 4 inch (4lb density) memory foam mattress pad.
loft dress - Tarantula
This avant garde dress was hand made by me using black cotton, chiffon and lame fabrics.
Loft dress can be worn as a short dress or tunic paired with leggins and military boots, that's how I see it.
The fabric on the top is a black georgette with ruffled details. For the bottom I used black metallic chiffon and black vintage chiffon.
The whole piece is embellished using black lame fabric, vintage buttons, hand dyed satin trim and cotton print of a vintage industrial lamp.

The Bathroom is finished, apart from a mirror and a light above the basin.
There is a long and vaguely amusing story behind this. We had the conversion done as our son Luke's (age 10) bedroom, because he's currently in the tiny bedroom over the stairs. Our daughter Siobhan (age 17) expressed no interest at all until it was nearly finished and then decided she wanted the room herself. She wheedled, bribed and persuaded Luke to give her the room, in return for a Giant African Land Snail. Now Giant African Land Snails come in two species, the East African Giant Land Snails Achatina marginata grow shells to over a foot long, wheras the West African Giant Land Snail Achatina fulcia are only a fifth of that size. Guess which ones Luke ended up with.
Luke chose the floor tiles too. He's feeling a little cheated right now, but he will inherit Siobhan's old room which is much bigger than his current one so it's ok really.
P.S.
The Giant African Land Snail is considered a potentially invasive species in the US, and it is illegal to import them. However they would not survive an English winter outdoors, and are not prohibited in the UK.
I might even post a picture or two of them when they grow up (the snails, not the kids)

Large beams are in an open loft above, allows people to look down into the living room and sunroom below. Wrought iron ballisters are a nice touch on the railings too. Notice the large Kolbe & Kolbe bay window overlooking the lake below. All of this helps to make this home a welcome retreat in the north woods of Wisconsin.
