Reeds bijna een jaar geleden begon ik aan mijn tripje naar Japan, die ruim drie weken zou duren. In de eerste week hiervan stonden enkele dagen in Osaka en Kyoto op het programma, en zodoende arriveerde ik op 18 mei per trein in wellicht Japans historisch gezien meest significante stad. Kyoto (京都 in het Japans) betekent letterlijk "hoofdstad", iets wat het maar liefst meer dan 1100 jaar is geweest, totdat de keizer en daarmee deze functie verplaatste naar Tokyo.
Als kort intermezzo voor uitleg over het spoorwegmuseum in Kyoto en het locomotieftype class 62, de volgende anekdote:
Het station van Kyoto staat bekend om zijn imposante architectuur maar ook niet minder om de vele mogelijkheden het station te verlaten. Dit maakt het voor mensen die onbekend zijn met de layout van het station lastig om de juiste uitgang te vinden, en zo eindig je vooral aan de zuidkant al snel bij een uitgang teveel naar het oosten of het westen van waar je eigenlijk wil zijn. Of in mijn geval: de toegangstunnel naar de shinkansen-sporen. Zoekend naar bordjes met "Exit" erop eindigde ik al snel vlak na de trap de tunnel in bij een aanzienlijke menigte die zich langs een met lintjes afgezet looppad had verzameld. Helaas, het zou dus nog even duren voordat ik daar verder kon! Maar uiteraard bleef ik even wachten wat er nou eigenlijk aan zat te komen. Aan een lange vrolijk geklede tevens westerse man vroeg ik in het Engels of hij wist wat er aan de hand was. "I think some royal person is supposed to arrive any minute here." Oke, interessant. Na een kort gesprek met deze aardige man viel aan het accent al snel op dat hij wel eens Nederlands kon zijn, en hij was mij sneller af om me dat te vragen dan andersom! Hoe groot is die kans nou...
Na niet al te lang wachten viel het op dat de menigte verderop in de tunnel ineens enthousiast met vlaggetjes begonnen te zwaaien. Zou er dan zo'n bekend persoon langs komen? Het duurde vervolgens niet veel langer voordat ik met stomheid geslagen werd: langzaam lopend en vriendelijk zwaaiend kwam zowaar de voormalige keizer van Japan om de hoek...!
Dit leuke voorval zal me altijd bij blijven staan; als ik boven het station door was gelopen en niet de shinkansen-tunnel in was gelopen had ik dit hele voorval gemist en misschien wel nooit geweten dat de voormalig keizer van Japan die dag Kyoto met een bezoek had vereerd...
Afijn, terug naar de foto.
De 19e van mei was een bijzonder druilerige dag in Kyoto. Gelukkig bulkt de stad van de musea en zodoende besloot ik het in 2016 geopende spoorwegmuseum te bezoeken. Deze bestemming stond onder voorwaarde als het goed uit zou komen dit een bezoekje waard was toch al op mijn lijstje.
Het museum is een bezit van een imposante hoeveelheid locomotieven, met name stoomlocs. Een viertal van deze locs is daadwerkelijk inzetbaar, en de Class 62 nummer 62-2 werd op die dag ingezet met het pendeltreintje dat dagelijks heen en weer rijdt over een kort stukje spoor achter het museum.
De JNR Class 62 is een bouwserie die is voortgevloeid uit het hergebruiken van de ketels van de Class D52 locs en werden in 1948-1949 (om)gebouwd door Hitachi. Al met al is het een onderhand iconische trein geworden in Japan, mede dankzij de destijds relatief populaire manga-reeks Galaxy Express 999. Het museum in Kyoto bezit maar liefst drie van de vijf bewaarde exemplaren van deze serie.
Op de foto zien we de fraaie 62-2 met haar setje rijtuigen duwend vertrekken voor de zoveelste pendelrit. De regen plensde neer bij het maken van de foto maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken toch nog een loc onder stoom te hebben gezien in Japan!

Vandaag was het doel om een dagje in de omgeving te blijven. Het doel was een kwantitatief aangenaam aantal aan foto's van 21/27 al moest er nog kwaliteit in de foto's zitten. Het doel was vooral om op herkenbare locaties foto's te maken, een mooi afscheid aan deze loc's in de omgeving. Gisteren werd een planning gemaakt die best krap was. De hoop was dat de 2135 en de 2143 met daartussen M5, die de afgelopen dagen op de 31xx en de 33xx zaten, zou rijden. Deze ideale samenstelling kon voor een heleboel foto's zorgen in plaats van een klein aantal. Toen ik opstond werd ik gelukkig om te zien dat deze samenstelling nog reed. Als eerste wilde ik wel nog de trein van 07u05 in Lier fotograferen. Dit is een van de enige ritten naar Antwerpen die met een enkele duikbril gereden wordt. Dit lukte, en zodoende kon ik gelijk een Desiro nemen naar Mechelen-Nekkerspoel. Daar moest ik nog geen 20 minuten wachten om de trein van 07u35 te zien: 2135 met M5 en 2143 richting Antwerpen. Hierna kon ik naar Mechelen gaan om de 2741 op de foto te zetten. Tegenwoordig is het om 8u nog donker en was deze nachtfoto ook binnen. Daarna werd met de trein naar halte Buda gegaan voor de 2143 en een M5 stuurstandrijtuig. Dit lukte allemaal goed. Mijn volgende bestemming was Duffel waar ik de 2741 opnieuw op de foto zou zetten. Bij de bekende plek in Duffel was het me nog niet gelukt om een deftige foto van een 27 op Lijn 25 te maken. Ik had er al wel 1 foto van de 2709 op L27 met een speciale trein, maar een 27 in planmatige dienst op L25 is ook wel iets leuk om een plek te hebben in de collectie. Dit lukte ook en zodoende kon ik om 11u de trein nemen naar Kontich alwaar ik de 2135 op de foto zette. Hierna werd de trein genomen naar Hove voor een foto vanaf spoor 1 van de 2143: de propere kant. Dit was echter wel een risico. De keertijd van de HLE21 in Antwerpen is altijd krap en deze trein staat bekend om vertraging. 4 minuten vertraging had fataal geweest want dan stond er een desiro knal in mijn beeld, maar ondanks een kleine vertraging was het nog gelukt om de prachtige locomotief te fotograferen. Hierna besloot ik Lijn 25 en Lijn 27 voor een tijdje achter mij te laten en mij te verplaatsen naar mijn thuislijn.
Het station van Hove en het station Boechout liggen op ongeveer 30 minuten wandelen van elkaar vandaan. Ik wilde dan ook maar als te graag deze wandeling maken om de trein van 12u20 naar Hamont te zien. Het was wel een M5 stuurrijtuig, maar dat gaat ook verdwijnen hier. Met een gelukte foto en nog een propere break op de plaat werd de lokale trein naar Nijlen genomen. Daar kon ik dichtbij het station nog een 27 fotograferen, waarna ik naar huis besloot te gaan om even middageten te eten. Daarna gingen we met de auto naar een plek tussen Nijlen en Grobbendonk alwaar de 2709 en de zinkerts geklikt werden. Na deze heerlijke platen besloten we weer richting Lier te rijden en ging ik weer verder naar Antwerpen.
Daar kon ik opnieuw een foto maken van de 2742 op spoor 9 alsook een benelux-trein. Hierna ging ik door naar Antwerpen centraal om eens een deftige foto van een HLE27 aan de zuidkant van het station. De aankomst op spoor 4 was perfect en dat de M6 die normaal op spoor 3 staat naar spoor 2 was gewijzigd was bijna alles wat ik kon wensen, op een propere 27 na...
Hierna ging ik met de M5 weer naar huis om te eten en daarna werd nog naar Berchem gegaan om de 2143 in Berchem te fotograferen.
We zien hier de 2e keer dat ik een 27 in Nijlen zag vandaag. Dit was rond 15u30 en de ruis was al extreem. Graffiti is digitaal weggehaald.

SK: Niekoľko mesiacov späť bolo v rakúskom Gramatneusiedl otvorené servisné stredisko elektrických rušňov pod názvom Locmasta (Locomotive maintenance station) ako spoločný podnik spoločností LTE, OBB a ELL. Pri tejto príležitosti obdržal Vectron 193.299 patriaci poolu ELL, ktorý slúži v skupine LTE reklamný polep na túto údržbovú základňu. Dňa 23. 7. 2022 sa rušeň objavil v čele pravideľného zmiešaného vlaku zo stanice Bratislava východ do belgického Antewerpen Nord. V posledných slnečných lúčoch som ho zachytil za zastávkou Parndorf Ort.
EN: A few months back, a service center for electric locomotives under the name Locmasta (Locomotive maintenance station) was opened in Gramatneusiedl, Austria, as a joint venture of LTE, OBB and ELL. On this occasion, Vectron 193.299 belonging to the ELL pool, which serves in the LTE group, received an advertising sticker for this maintenance base. On 7/23/2022, the locomotive appeared at the head of a regular mixed train from the station Bratislava východ to the Belgian Antwerpen Nord. I caught him in the last rays of the sun behind the Parndorf Ort stop.
