Another close-up, this time of the lock of a charm bracelet. I thought the metal of the bracelet looked good against the edge of the book.

Barely half a step ahead of no lock at all. It's not tied to anything. It's long enough to slip over the seat, so is only connected to the rack. And yes, the blue part is 100% plastic. The bike is probably less than US$50 new, so is cheaper than a quality lock I guess.

Lock 48 is one of the Four Locks on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal that are located near Clear Spring, Maryland.

This is Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 58 in Newark, NY. It was a double chamber lock built around 1841. This shot, taken from the west end, is looking down into the lock. Here you can see the south wall of the north chamber as well as the central overflow inlets on the central section of the lock. It was called " the middle lock", as it was the middle lock of the three locks on the Enlarged Erie Canal that were located close to each other in Newark, NY, which at that time was called Lockville. To the far right you will also notice the roof next to the center section, that roof covers the entire length of the south chamber which is being used by a scrap metal company as a storage garage..... ( at this point I will refrain from saying how much that annoys me.....oops, did I just say it ? ). Lock 58 is located off Route 31 on Lyons Street in Newark, NY.

Steel footbridge by the Lock

My first eagle trip this season. It was a really overcast and gray day so quite a bit of post processing was necessary. I went to Lock and Dam 18 this morning, near Gladstone, Illinois and across from Burlington, Iowa. The eagle count there a week ago was over 200 - and I must say I have never seen so many eagles in one place - it was so awesome to watch. Unfortunately, there was no way to get close enough to the area where they were fishing - so no decent fishing shots. But they did fly overhead and perch in the trees close in. The afternoon was Lock 14 on the Iowa side of the river near Davenport. Last year for my first trip to photograph the eagles there were many eagles there, too, and they were fishing close to the viewing area - but today only 6 or 7 and they weren't very active - so I resorted to shooting gulls, geese, etc. Fun day, even though not ideal shooting conditions. Going back with my sister and brother sometime in January.
