on my bush walk this morning i came across a group of ants that looked like they were locked in battle, think it was a morning cleaning session, but it was way cool non the less
This Jeep was originally ordered from Wiley Bros. and Lewis Packard-Willys of West Chester, PA in January, 1951 by Arthur Knorr, a producer of the Milton Berle TV show and the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. He lived on Central Park West in New York City, but also had property in Pennsylvania.
Fitted with power take-offs both front and rear, a pulley drive and a hydraulic implement lift, it was purchased with attachments that included a buzz saw, a lift grass cutter and a hydraulic snow plow. More standard options included a front-mounted winch, front and rear tops, floor mats, a hood lock, propeller shaft guards, a radiator cover, a governor and a heater and defroster.
A ¾ ton dump trailer was also purchased at the same time, with Knorr using the Jeep and trailer on his Pennsylvania estate until his wife passed away in 1993, at which time he sold them to Joe Copnio. They eventually passed to the Jim Taylor collection and the Jeep may well be the lowest mileage 1952 CJ in existence, with some 1,698 miles showing on the odometer. The mileage may be attributed to the fact that it was used for work, not as a road vehicle.
Unlike many acquisitions, this Jeep came with all the original bills of sale, correspondence with the dealer and even the original manual, making it a rare find interesting both for its mechanical options and its documented background.
I assume this huge chain on the Mississippi River levee has something to do with keeping the docks in place (where the Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher are docked).
Or perhaps someone chained up the Arch to avoid theft by tourists. Maybe Eero Saarinen.
Situated on the southern edge of Leicester's surburbia, St Thomas's church at South Wigston (listed as Glen Parva in Pevsner) was built in 1892-3 to the designs of Stockdale Harrisons & Sons. It is a fine example of Arts & Crafts Gothic in brick on a large scale.
The interior has a vast, barn-like feel to it, thanks to the absence of columns and internal divisions. It is an impressive space with one of the widest naves of any parish church.
The church is normally kept locked outside of services.

If you look to the left, you can see the other chain disappearing in tho the sunlight.
Erie Canal lock on 96 at the base of Knickerbocker. Gave it a grunge/vintage look. Technically it's not abandoned, but I hope it isn't used either - it's for emergencies.
The Rochdale Canal crosses the Oldham Road at lock 50. Oldham Road is to the right, while the canal drops to pass under the road.
A rainy Saturday, so Alison set to work on the jigsaw, and soon had it done.
One piece missing (a whimsical oar). All previous Wentworth Landmark jigsaws we've seen had whiimsies featuring other Landmarks, but the whimsies here had rather a nautical theme!

“I thought how unpleasant it is to be locked out; and I thought how it is worse, perhaps, to be locked in.” ~ Virginia Woolf
February MSH Entry - "Locked"
The lock building, looking very much like some sort of rural railway station - an image furthered by the fact that the lock building sits on an island, meaning that it looks a bit like it has platforms on both sides of the building.
