Ticklepenny Lock is still in reasonable condition after having been repaired by the Louth Navigation Trust in 1996. There used to be a wooden swing bridge here which has now been replaced by one made of concrete. In the early 1930s a sheep wash was built alongside the lock and this can be seen amongst the trees on the left hand side.

So, I am not going to win photographer of the year with this scene of open lock gates showing an empty lock. However, I thought it was a pretty scene and I like it. For the one person who may be interested, this is Claydon Top Lock No 17 which is the first of five locks and is on the Oxford Canal close to Cropredy Marina, home for our boat.
I must point out that I play a major role, skilfully navigating the boat through the locks which is extremely stressful. Michelle plays a small part in the operation making sure that the lock is set in-time of my arrival. Nothing worse than having to wait and watch while the wife empty’s or fills the lock and opens the gates. I bring the boat into the lock, which is a skill in itself, and then I have to watch Michelle close the gates and then set the paddles. Once the lock has emptied or filled, Michelle will open the gates and I must carefully navigate the boat out of the lock. Once the boat is out of the lock, Michelle will close the gates and shut the paddles and then run to the next lock and start the process over again.
Skippering a narrowboat can be so stressful.
The lock is now closed and has secured all within;

Camden Lock on the Regents Canal in London. Camden Town is a lovely area to visit with it's markets and colourful funky shops. You can walk for miles along the canal from here. Photo taken with my Canon camera on a beautiful afternoon.
For those interested in history I have added the Camden Lock wiki page via the link below.
