I'm so happy that a family of woodpeckers have decided to visit our garden. Here's the parent, filling their beak, whilst the juvenile sits and waits for food!

After 3 months of lockdown, as soon as the travel restrictions were eased slightly on Monday, we ventured to Salisbury Plain.
What a perfect evening!
And .... breathe!

I'm very lucky to have such a lovely place to go walking in these days of lockdown and limited travel. A brisk walk along the bridleway is the perfect way to spend my lunchbreaks on the days that I am working from home.

In these days of lockdown, the thing I miss the most is going out to take photographs (yes, I know, I am very very lucky if that is the thing I miss the most!), so searching for still life shots at home, has now become a way of life.

Sorry about all the dandelion shots ... lockdown means still lifes, or garden shots, or ... still lifes in the garden!!! Yesterday, I was experimenting with different manual focus lenses ... hence all the dandelion shots.

Inspired by my lovely friend @redeartharts, I am trying my hand at cyanotypes for the first time.
So far, I have learned two things - one, don't prepare your media in a room SO dark, that you can't see how patchy your painting of the chemicals is; and two, press your flowers first or you just end up with blobby blobs!
Still, I'm having fun!! And the house is full of flowers 😍

Doing whats needed to get some food.
I can't believe I'm doing a mouse series but it's been some of the highlights of recent days.
It was my friend's 30th birthday a few weeks ago, and because of lockdown, she was spending it at home, instead of in a fancy hotel being pampered .... so I got her a few pampering goodies so she could have a "home spa", and left them on her doorstep.

... a delight for the senses ... the scent, the colour, the velvety petals ....
The name muscari comes from the Greek muschos, musk, referring to the scent.

If we weren't in lockdown, I would probably have gone to Salisbury Plain and photographed the Charlton Clumps for this topic; or I might have gone back to Marlborough and photographed my favourite lone tree at Chisbury. But it didn't seem right to go off driving, when so many people are shielding and not able to go anywhere. So I decided to take a photograph of these trees that I can see from kitchen window. And sure, why wouldn't I?! Aren't they beautiful?

My first trip out since lockdown was eased was to the secret nature trail created by my brother-in-law ... a stroll by a stream, in a bosky valley, and not another soul around ... perfect.

Some golden hour some blue hour... today was all about clouds play at the twillight hour. At the dusk the colors got more interesting patterns at the bayou. More interestingly the water in the ponds was still and I could snag some reflections. One take of comparision of the traditional and the modern boats on the bayou.

Take Ferric ammonium citrate and Potassium ferricyanide in equal measure, add sunshine, et voilà, a "photograph" is made.

The title for this photo is a nod to an episode of The X Files, where a character Clyde Bruckman was able to predict the future.
Who would have predicted the future of Saint Stephen's Green in April 2020, just after the Covid 19 pandemic shutdown the street completely, for in the middle of the day, the taxi rank stood empty, along with Dublin, Ireland & the world.
I just call them as I see them.
