During the UK wide COVID-19 lockdown I was finding it frustrating that I couldn't really venture out and shoot the sort of things I normally do. So with plenty of time on my hands indoors, I decided to set myself a little challenge, to document my family in as simple a way as possible.
Basically all I used was one main camera - my Sony A7iii and one lens - my Sigma ART 35mm f/1.4. I would shoot only in camera JPEG and use the in camera black and white profile.
In post process, all I did was some simple crop and rotation corrections. Im sure I have one leg bigger than the other - always seem to be wonky!
I really like the set of images and I might make a little book out of them. I think it captures our moods quite well. Happy one moment, and bored and sad the next.
Kinda glad we can venture out a bit more these days; even if we aren't completely out of the woods yet. The freedom feels amazing....!

Schwerin/gc. Werden noch einmal Touristen davon abgehalten, sich mit Übernachtungen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern aufhalten zu dürfen, beziehungsweise überhaupt in das Land einreisen zu dürfen, so würde dies schwere Verwerfungen in der Gastro- und Beherbergungswirtschaft nach sich ziehen.
Diese Befürchtung macht derzeit in Restaurants, Hotels, Pensionen und auf Campingplätzen die Runde. Eine zweite Abriegelung würden viele Unternehmen nur schwer verkraften.
Andererseits argumentiert Landeschefin Manuela Schwesig, dass das Land bundesweit die gericgsten Infektionszahlen habe, obwohl es mehr als dreimal so viele Gäste beherbergt habe wie es Einwohner hat. Das zeige, dass man auf dem richtigen Weg sei. Die Wirtschaft hält dagegen, dass mehr Augenmaß, mehr Praxistauglichkeit und vor allem mehr Verhältnismäßigkeit die politischen Entscheidungen im Umgang mit der Corona-Pandiemie bestimmen sollten.
Den Wirtschaftsvertretern geht es hierbei um nachvollziehbare Regularien, um eine breite Akzeptanz in der Bevölkerung und der Branche zu erreichen. „Dazu gehören die stetige Anpassung der Schutzstandards, Hygienekonzepte und Notfallpläne, die Aufklärungsarbeit und Kommunikation in die Branche und gegenüber den Gästen, die Absicherung der Nachverfolgbarkeit und Eindämmung eventuell lokal auftretender Infektionsketten sowie die weiterhin enge und vertrauensvolle Abstimmung mit den politischen Verantwortungsträgern“, heißt es in einer gemeinsamen Mitteilung des Tourismusverbands Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V., der DEHOGA Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V., des Bäderverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V., des Landesverbandes MV des Bundesverbandes der Campingwirtschaft in Deutschland e. V. und des Landurlaub e. V.
Tausende Menschen direkt oder im Umfeld der Touristen-, Gastro- und Beherbergungsbranche in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern beschäftigt. Ein zweiter Lockdown wäre für viele existenzgefährend. Das wäre ein Albtraum, den es unbedingt zu verhindern gelte, sind sich die Wirtschaftsvertreter einig.

For the road haulage enthusiasts. Taken on a misty day.
The protest is directed against excessive lockdown measures. One fears the transition to a totalitarian society. Forced apps, implanted chips, 5G control technology.

So with lockdown in full swing, my only real contact with buses was outside Charing Cross in ‘change ends’ time, which as most trains arrived well early could be quite lengthy.
This shot of EH218 passing the station would probably be impossible (or need a lot of luck) but was easily obtainable in the deserted Strand on this day, 11.4.20.
