The weather is very localized here... as in it can be tropical downpouring 1km away from where it's hot and sunny.

This is looking south down the east coast of nevis. Just around that bend is the Four Seasons and Pinney's Beach, and beyond that is the main town, Charlestown.

The south and eastern sides of the island seem to get a lot rain. The volcano, Mount Nevis, is to blame for a lot of the cloud activity here.

You can see the left side of the picture, there is very dark clouds and it's pouring. The right side is clear, hot and sunny!

LAT 68% confidence radii localizations for a source with integral flux (above 100 MeV) of 10−7 ph cm 2s−1 versus source spectral index for

a source detected in the one-year sky survey. The variation of angular resolution with energy and viewing angle from the instrument axis is taken into account.

In effect, the source viewing angle is averaged over in sky-survey mode. The source is assumed to be located in a region wit

h uniform background with integral diffuse flux (above 100 MeV) of 1.5×10−5ph cm−2s−1sr−1and spectral index –2.1. The source localization radius scales as (flux)−1/2.

Small localized rain storms are typical during summer in Southwest Florida. As a heavy downpour moves along the Caloosahatchee from the east, this spot under the Alva bridge is still bathed in the late afternoon sunshine from the west.

Intercellular signaling mediated by peptide ligands has emerged as a key component of diverse biological processes in plants. Several EPIDERMAL PATTERNING FACTOR (EPF)-family members of small cysteine-rich peptides have been discovered as important signaling molecules controlling various developmental processes including inflorescence growth and stomatal patterning in Arabidopsis. However, the functions of other EPF peptides and their roles in stress management and hormonal responses remain unclear. To reveal biological functions of remaining EPF peptides, EPFL1, EPFL3, EPFL5, EPFL7 and EPFL8, we analyzed the expression patterns of EPFs using EPFspro: GUS reporters at different developmental stages of plant.

FRK.MOD was a public installation that explored the sounds of localized radio transmission. Six radio transmitters were mounted on telephone poles in Millvale, PA, a borough of Pittsburgh. Each transmitter was paired with an MP3 players which contained an originally composed piece of audio and transmitted this audio on the same frequency. The listener was meant to wear a pair of radio receiver headphones, receiving on the same frequency as the transmitters, and walk down the street. As the listener moves between the transmitters, the signals will compete to be received. The result of this interference is a compelling and disorienting sonic experience.

The composed audio was inspired by the science of radio and the propagation of waves in the natural world. Frequency modulation synthesis as well as a technique to step through one waveform using the amplitude of another were used to represent the relationship between the carrier frequency and the modulator frequency, the basis of radio. The audio also used radio samples captured by placing contact microphones on the beams of a bridge. These sounds mimic qualities of the interference between the transmitters, creating elements of continuity for the listener.
