These baby green sea turtles were hatched at Sea World and were loaned to Monterey Bay Aquarium. They will be on exhibit for a short time and then some will go live in another exhibit and the others will be set free in the ocean. :) They were very interactive with the people, this guy really seemed to like my camera lens.

Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, doesn't really have a whole lot going for it, really. It's far from the most desirable place to live. It's an industrial town, with lots of unattractive old factories and eye sores spoiling the landscape. One good thing that Rotherham has going for it is that it is right next door to the countryside, and as such, there are a lot of open fields and green spaces running through the districts.

The council has recently released plans to destroy this green landscape by building at least 2000 new homes on it in the coming years, and up to 3600 in the next 20 years.

As far as the eye can see, these fields will no longer be there if the council's plans get the go-ahead. This belt of land is known as "Bassingthorpe Farm", and this green area on an otherwise dreary landscape is one of the only dear things - for me at least -about living in the area.

A local man I met the other day whilst taking this photo informed me that Rotherham's population has remained unchanged in the last 50 years, and a member of the council has previously stated that at any one time there are 1500 homes unoccupied, so why on earth 3600 new houses would be necessary is beyond me.

To think that this beautiful open green belt may not be there is a really depressing thought. The belt also helps to distinguish Rotherham's districts from one another, each of them having their own identity. The destruction of the green belt will see all of these areas merge into one, and our individual identities, along with one of the only positive aspects about the town, will be gone.

A North Vancouver, BC couple, John and Jackie Knill, were on a 4-month vacation to Thailand. Unfortunately, they were on the beach on December 26, 2004, when the Tsunami hit. They have gone missing ever since.

Their digital camera was later located on the beach. Although the camera was damaged, the last, haunting, images were preserved. These photos show the advance of the Tsunami. You can read the Story from the Seattle Times at:

"If Don Townsend was a betting man he'd put money on the fact that Travis Cochran is the only Boy Scout to have earned every merit badge and the Bronze and Silver Hornaday Medals.

Cochran, 18, of Cedarpines Park, earned 122 merit badges during his scouting career. Twenty-one merit badges must be earned to reach the rank of Eagle Scout.

Cochran's journey began at age 10 when he walked into the Boy Scouts of America office and saw a poster featuring every merit badge.

"I told my dad, if you buy me that poster I'll earn every single merit badge and I kept my word," said Cochran, a member of BSA Troop 104 in Lake Arrowhead.

Some of the more obscure badges include salesmanship, orienteering, truck transportation and the last badge Cochran earned, bugling."

Metro line 52 at the day of the opening of the Noord/Zuid line (line 52) between Zuid (South) and Noord (North). Local news channel AT5 was present in metro train 151 during the day of the opening.

u>Noord/Zuid line

The North / South line is a line from the Amsterdam metro. The line runs from Amsterdam-Noord (station Noord, near the Buikslotermeerplein), under the center of Amsterdam to station Zuid. The line has been given the number 52 and was officially opened on 21 July 2018 by the Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema. The line was put into service for travelers on 22 July 2018.

The metro line was controversial before and during construction, mainly because of the decision-making process, the high costs and uncertainty about the financing, the many postponements of opening, the fear of damage to the old city center of Amsterdam and the mistakes made during construction.

A North / South line already exists in the 1968 City Railroad Plan. At the time, they decided to start with the construction of the current Oostlijn. Because of great social resistance that resulted in the Nieuwmark trollees in 1975 and budget overruns, the municipality of Amsterdam decided in 1975 that after the east line no kilometer metro line would be added.

The journey time from South Station to North Station is 15 minutes, between South and Central Station 10 and between Central Station and North 5. The line starts above ground in Amsterdam-North and passes underneath the IJ and Central Station. The route then runs through a bored tunnel via the Damrak, the Dam, the Rokin, the Vijzelstraat, the Vijzelgracht, the Ferdinand Bolstraat and the Scheldestraat. From the Europaplein, the tunnel will be laid out in open construction. For the RAI along the metro line still runs underground, after which the North / South line rises above the ground in the central belt of the Ringweg Zuid (A10), between the new station Europaplein and metro station Zuid / train station Amsterdam Zuid. At Station Zuid, the metro connects to the existing network (lines 50 and 51).

This was reported a few days before I took this by the local Evening Echo newspaper. Young people today are so stupid. Personally, I've always ridden INSIDE a train, rather than OUTSIDE.

I saw this vehicle at Park Street in Vernon-Rockville on Tuesday April 26, 2022.

This is a really amazing and very cool local news station from Rocky Hill, Connecticut which is known as WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News. This vehicle is an non-Vernon related item.

The vehicle is 2016 Ford Transit 250 and this vehicle comes with transmitter on there as part of WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News stuff including news anchors.
