The buds of the Rafflesia take many months to develop and the flower stays in bloom up to 14 days. It is an incredibly rare site to see in the wild.

This was a good trip, took couple of clients up there on a photo tour, it's unusual to have fresh snow in mid May, but it happended so we got in there for sunrise, still some fresh snow on the mountains, but it melts really fast as the heat from the lava is plenty, and the sun melts it fast when it's up. So we had couple hours with fresh snow.
