Local folks are absolutely daffy about the food at the fair - I'll pass. One year I tried to go native and ate a corn dog, the curly fries, etc. It didn't work out and I found I couldn't hold them down if you catch my drift. That was the first and last corn dog in my life.
Without a camera stand, I tried my best to put some symmetry on the shot from the base of the Petronas Twin Towers. This is the best I could make.

Struck up a lengthy and animated chat with this guy -- wish I remembered his name! -- as both of us enjoyed several too many pints of stout at a neighborhood pub in Kensington, west London. He worked for the city's electric company and was ranting on and on about his wife and job, the government and life in Great Britain. It is locals like him that make travel the wanderlust that it is to me. Cheers to him, three years later!
The Alabama Gourd Show is held annually in Cullman by the Alabama Gourd Society to promote the art and craft of decorating gourds.

This helicopter is just a portion of the Fort Rucker mural on the side of a downtown Dothan building.
The Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival was named Alabama's number one event of the year by Alabama Tourism.
Shown is a section of the Cherry Street A.M.E. mural in Dothan. It's the oldest A.M.E. church in Alabama.
While exploring old haunts and parts of the city that I grew up in, happened by this old service station that occupied a strategic corner in an area known as Alamo Heights. If memory serves me right the winged horse was (is?) part of the logo for Mobil Oil (corrected, thanks Tim...!... anyway, it remains atop the old building in near perfect condition.
