Yesterday I mentioned to a few people that we would take a closer look across the Tamar towards the industrial side of Bell Bay. So I put on the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 and started shooting. All my shots today were taken with this impressive lens.

Here we see the cargo ship Globulus being loaded with woodchips to be shipped to Japan. Enlarge the shot and you'll see that huge mountain of woodchips is being pushed around by bulldozers! Quite an operation.

Now I must add that this woodchip comes from sustainable forests. Wood is, after, all a recyclable product and less damaging to the environment than plastics or manufactured materials. All logging in Tasmania is now sustainable despite what some political agitators would have us believe. More than half of the Tasmanian landscape is protected forests.

USSC #312, a GP11, passes one of the numerous sugar cane load out along USSC's system. This loaded has dried out for this year, but during the next harvest it will be busy once again. Something also worthy of note in this scene are the rails under the loader, hidden in the grass, it is stamped '1903 CARNEGIE.' Hard to believe these rails still serve trains during every harvest.

It doesn't matter what or how much you need to transport, just use a trike...

A visit was made to the opencast coal processing and distribution centre at Onllwyn in the upper Dulais Valley back in 2006, where we were granted permission to enter the site and take some images. EWS 60004 had arrived from Swansea Burrows S.S. with 36 HAA hoppers and loading had not long commenced. Once the loading was completed, the wagons would be taken to Margam and would later form the 7E10 TTHO 18:51 Margam T.C. to Immingham S.S..

A frame taken at the A J Williams open cast disposal site at Cwmbargoed in January 1989. BR Railfreight 37798 had arrived with 28 HAA hoppers and the set had been split for loading. A trio of mechanical shovels had just commenced the loading of the first 18 wagons, the remaining raft of ten are to be seen waiting to the left. When the loading had been completed, the train would depart as the 7C86 13:38 MGR to Aberthaw Power Station.

Portrait of a semi-nomadic woman with her daily load of wood (Chad).

Arab community has been in Chadian territory for hundreds of years, mostly in south central Chad.

Despite their widespread diffusion, these Arabs represent a single ethnic group composed of a multitude of tribes.

The Arabs of Chad are semisedentary (or seminomadic) peoples who herd their camels, horses, cattle, goats, and sheep on the plains in the Chad lake area.

In the region around N'Djamena some Arabs have adopted a more settled existence.

In the rainy season, Arab groups spread out through the region; in the dry season, they live a more settled existence, usually on the dormant agricultural lands of their sedentary neighbors.
