Day 1 Prompt: It's a Matter of Taste, Scrap about food...

Journaling Reads:

As St. Patrick’s Day, 2011 approached, my heart was heavy. This would be the first St. Patrick’s Day where I wouldn’t be able to call my dad and ask him to make some corned beef and cabbage for me as I had done for so many years in the past. Having lost a parent herself, Mair knew how hard this first year without him would be. To boost my spirits, she offered to throw a St. Patrick’s Day EVE party, complete with corned beef and cabbage. Look at the joy in her face as she stirs the pot! She is a fabulous cook, a self-taught chef, and an amaaaaazing hostess. The corned beef and cabbage (plus potatoes) were out of this world! She told me later that night that she felt Bennie’s presence as she prepared the meal through out the day. I could truly feel his love and warmth shining through the food. Being surrounded by this compassionate crowd and the ultimate comfort food (Hello! Guinness chocolate cupcakes, I love you!), made the loss of my dad easier to bear on this first St. Paddy’s without him here. Thank you Laura, Mair, Shelley, and Amy for lifting me up with your food and bevvies. 3/16/11

So bummed that I didn't get to spend more time today scrapping. Looking forward to May LOAD already :)

Used Ki memories

It looks like a lot of work to load all these mules.

I was told this is a WWII aircraft bomb loader. Looks more like logging equipment to me. I couldn't find any old military identification tags on it either. But it's neat looking anyway.

These flowers are on my neighbours drive, and I've been eye-ing them off for weeks! However, the sun usually shines directly on them, so I thought the shadows would look rubbish. It's overcast today (and raining), so I took the opportunity.

I find them really interesting - the bush has green leaves, as well as these pink-ish leaves and then loads of little yellow flowers dotted around! They're cute.

As usual with my flower uploads, I have no idea what it is!

I took a couple of self-portraits earlier too, but I am really not sure about them. I took about 40 photos and only got 3 that are remotely usable - I am so un-photogenic! I had double chins, half-shut eyes, zombie looking eyes and just generally looked odd!

Anyway, I may post one or two of them later - I need to have a break from looking at them, then go back to them! Then I can see what I really think of them!

Would love some practice at taking portraits, and selfies are the perfect practice, but I wish I wasn't so un-photogenic, I find it really hard to get myself looking normal and not completely goofy!

This pic does not capture this layout very well.....it really looks a lot better in real life! I love this photo and wanted it big but kept the other elements in neutrals....

Medium format, cos thats the way we roll on PiP photowalks.

A grain train being loaded in Edgely ND. I think this is a SD40-2 that is being used to move the cars as they are being loaded. Couldn't get a good side view due to the trees blocking the view.

This was taken from the ND-13 crossing.

I have two sick boys at home and I am so tired I almost didn't do a LO today...but we're so close to the end I decided to push on. I'm glad I did, but NOW I'm off to bed!

With both platforms closed, Metra is forced to load at a tiny spot East of the station.

My family has been taking photos with important newspaper headlines since I was a little girl (the first one was "Nixon Resigns" back in '74). I've started doing the same thing with my family and I try to record a few thoughts about the event as well.
