School holiday activities so far have included a visit to Plaster Fun House, where adults join the children to paint plaster ornaments. Here is our very fancy lizard, relaxing in the garden mulch.

This old fella decided to come out and sun himself for a few minutes. But, as the sun began to settle in the west, he curled around and crawled back into his winter hiding place.

This tree is literally in our back yard. Glad to have him as a neighbour.

Two collared lizards. I think that the left one is a male and the right one a female, but I let the experts comment on this!

Colourful Cottage

Took me several visits to the Silent Valley but I knew they were there somewhere (4 today)! Common Lizard.

An Atlantic Lizard (Gallotia atlantica ) basking in the sun on some old lava at Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote. These lizards are unique to Lanzarote and one or two other islands in the Canaries, but seem to be very common at Timanfaya. Detail best viewed by clicking on the image.

Found on sandy soil at base of tree in late afternoon/early evening.

 

I believe it's Lialis burtonis Gray, 1835 - Burton's legless lizard. Confirmation or correction appreciated.

I am aware that there is without doubt another, more accurate name for this creature, but "fence Lizard" is what I learned as a child, and fence lizard they shall remain.

This lizard seems to have had an incident with its tail at some time.
