Early-morning sunlight skims the grave slabs beneath the Lincoln’s Inn chapel and reflects back up towards the undercroft’s 15th-century ceiling, bringing out the stunning detail of its Gothic arches, lierne vaults and Tuscan demi-columns.

Closeup of a variable species of woodland salamander native to the Interior Highlands of Arkansas and Oklahoma. This variant was one of two I found during a moderate drought in early October. It looks very similar to the conspecific it overlaps with, Plethodon kiamichi. The classic look of P. ouachitae usually consists of very recognizable "s'mores" coloration with creamy browns, golds, and some white speckling.

In 1978 LS&I purchased 10 Missabe ore cars converted to ballast service. DM&IR added special dumping doors manufactured by Morrison-Knudsen and sold the cars to various railroads (see page 123 in LS&I V1 for a shot of one shortly after being delivered).
Surprisingly, all 10 LS&I cars (Nos. 11-20) still survive, and are seen at the Empire mine last summer on a ballast loading track that at one time was the original mainline between Empire Junction and the Empire mine. That mainline was relocated slightly to the east as Empire expanded in the early 1980s.
