"I was not crowned in marble halls,
nor named by kings of earth.
My lineage is written in constellations,
veins threaded with silver fire.
I carry the hush of galaxies in my breath,
and the dawn of forgotten worlds in my gaze.
A sovereign born of silence and infinity,
forever heir to the bloodline of starlight."

The Tsibri mountain range, true to its name, resembles a series of protruding ribs (ribs རྩིབ་མ་ rtsib ma, tsibma).
During the 11th century, the remote crags of Tsibri were inhabited by Padampa Sangye, the Indian master who introduced the lineages of Chod and Zhije into Tibet.
Their lineage showing, but fading, a former Santa Fe SD75M leads a very short M391 past the Meal And More Elevator that is being dismantled. It was a treat having one of these lead as they have been very sheltered from that on CN.

The construction of the alcázar started in 1402, when Don Enrique de Guzmán, the second Duke of Medinasidonia and the fourth of Niebla, pulled down the old alcázar and to build the one we know today. The result was a magnificent royal palace which preserved the most interesting and luxurious parts built by the arabs, such as the muslim Tower of Homage, which was rebuilt so magnificently that was compared to the Giralda tower of Seville (today it is called Murete de la Reina).
So, this is indeed a monumental work, maybe the most important of the 15th century, which proves the wealth and importance of the Guzmán's lineage and the familily's intention of making the town fit the social relevance of their position. The main constructive element is the local stone and it is remarkable the work of ashlars( some of them belonging to former constructions) of the lower parts of walls and towers. The structure may seem austere today, for the upper parts, which were more richly decorated, have not remained. Neverteheless, the troneras (small windows) ornamented with the cross and the orb -typical element of Guzmán's palaces and houses- are still outstanding nowadays.
One of the most outstandings elements of the fortress is the big size of the base of its Tower of Homage, which with good reason was considered to be the second of Andalucía in height before its destruction by an earthquake in 1755 and the damage caused by French troops in 1812. Marshal Soult had converted the town into a strongpoint. When the town was besieged by General Lacy, who was in the service of the Spanish crown, the French troops blew up the arsenal they had placed in the town, causing important damage to the fortress.

CASTELLANO

Looking at this photo, it got me thinking about the origin and use of these machines. Turns out, this style Sno-Cat (not this exact one) was among the vehicles used to complete the first crossing of Antartica. In fact, there is a book co-written by Sir Edmund Hillary and Vivian Fuchs to tell the tale of the 2,158 mile traverse. A much shorter trip to the local library and 240 very impressive yet matter of fact pages later, I learned the role this Medford, Oregon produce machine played.
Temperatures consistently in the -40s, months of darkness, itinerary crushing ice flows, and logistics that would make your head spin were just the start. Actual travel included dog sled and airborne reconnaissance, then in these massive vehicles at a snails pace, often over snow hidden crevasses. The book included a number of photographs of the landscape, the team, and a Sno-Cat like this teetering over one of the aforementioned crevasses with a tread vertical in the air. The book is worth a read if you are into historic adventure, or at least web search the image of the precariously perched Sno-Cat.
This Tucker Sno-Cat resides up at Timberline Lodge near Mt. Hood, 6000ft above sea level. Bright orange, it definitely stands out against a snowy white backdrop. Now I know it stands out in history as well.

The Bank of Dyersburg is a historic building built in 1885 located on North Main Street in Dyersburg, Tennessee. It has served historically in commerce/trade functions, including as a professional building, as a specialty store, and as a financial institution. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 16, 1983 for its architecture described in the original NRHP document as "Commercial Italianate lineage displaying Romanesque influences" and an additional historic three-story addition (circa 1890) that is primarily Romanesque in its styling. It also qualifies for the significant commercial & economic growth of the Dyersburg community during this time period.

This mornings departure of Jackie Chan's Embraer 190 Lineage 1000 (B-3219) at Sydney Airport (SYD/YSSY) caught me by surprise, as I was there for other reasons... BUT, as you can see in the approach shot, the hazy weather conditions weren't the best...
Also of not, the differences in that shot, as opposed to the other two! Approach (6D + 100-400 Mkii (f7.1, 1/400th 100ISO at 300mm)) and the side shots (7D + 17-40L (f8, 1/800th 250ISO at c. 37mm)) and the colours, were largely untouched!!
capturing the root of my own motives,
and I cannot dig another inch
leave me blessed, petal breasted,
ready to resume those lines I'd trusted.

The first weekend in October finds Boyds from across the country meeting here at the Boyd Tavern in Boydton, Virginia... Joyce traces her roots to these Boyds not here in the states, but rather in Scotland by way of Ireland. The group she most closely associates with originally settled in South Carolina, though these Virginia Boyds are cousins nonetheless.
The tavern was originally constructed in 1785 as an ordinary (what we would think of as a hotel) situated in Boydton, a small town that would eventually become the county seat of Mecklenburg County, Virginia. In 1794, it was bought by Alexander Boyd. From that time to this, the structure had undergone changes that reflect its current federal style. It has served as a tavern, a hotel, a courthouse and jail, a stagecoach depot, and a mustering place for local Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. A courtroom at a tavern? I suppose it makes sense if you're having a bad day in court. A modern courthouse now exists on the opposite corner... sadly, it lacks a tavern.
From the beginning, the Boyd family has continued a connection to this place. Many can trace their lineage back to Alexander Boyd and beyond… I can trace mine back to my grandma. I’ve come to know them as a family with a passion for life and place, and a compassion for others... a salt-of-the-earth southern gentility seems to be a commonality among them. Perhaps those aspects are well steeped into these folks who find their ties to a place that was known for its hospitality.
The Boyd Tavern is essentially a museum that gives us a unique view of the time of a fledgling United States... a peek into the history that brings us where we are. Where history is concerned, it seems the older you get, the more relevant it becomes… perhaps that’s because it has somehow weaved itself into our very being.
"To me, history ought to be a source of pleasure. It isn't just part of our civic responsibility. To me, it's an enlargement of the experience of being alive, just the way literature or art or music is." – David McCullough

It took a few weeks of scouting different locations around Mount Shasta to get this shot, not to mentions hours of research and calculating to get the Milky Way just right. I even got stuck on the side of a mountain a few days before taking this (I really need 4 wheel drive). If you look closely at the image, you can see a white light on the mountain... Theories?
Sorry I haven't been around everyone. I have way too much on my plate at the moment. Hope you are all doing well and I will be by your streams when I get a chance to breath over the weekend. Thank you for your comments and support!
