Elm Park Underground Station (District Line), 12 July 2025.
The station was opened in May 1935 by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMSR) following an additional pair of tracks being built in September 1932 from Barking to Upminster for main line London, Tilbury & Southend (LT&S) services; the former LT&S tracks were transferred to, and electrified for, District Railway (DR) services extended from Barking.
The station was designed by the LMS’s Chief Architect, William Henry Hamlyn, and was his standard design (with slight variations) for the new stations provided between Barking and Upminster. The main difference from his other stations was the curved ends to the station roof in a typical Art Décor style. However, unlike Upney and Becontree, Elm Park (like Dagenham Heathway) never had LT&S services calling at it so only an island platform for DR services was built.
Despite the station being used only by the District Line, it was not until January 1969 that ownership was transferred from BR to London Transport.

OSR Tillsonburg Job is northbound at 14:10, returning from its chores in Tillsonburg with OSR 378 & 383, 7 tanks and 2 hoppers. Crossing Dereham Line at 1410. Crossing through our farm. Last week we were able to combine some of the corn, but some of it is still out in the field. Harvest 2014 is a slow and painful process. Its been a wet fall making it hard to get out on the fields in good conditions. A big wind came last week and blew a lot of the remaining corn down, causing the rest of the fall harvest to be even more painful.

Throughout this year's Worlds Literature Festival we enjoyed a set of readings and conversation from participating writers. Hosted by George Szirtes, this session featured John McAuliffe, Linor Goralik, Claire Potter and Dmitry Kuzmin - all in front of an audience of Worlds participants and invited guests from University of East Anglia.

Despite hours of persistent rain, Eagles the won Battle Line 59…again. Sorry for the sloppy, moist photographs. Hoping next week will see a dry Eagles victory.

Converse County was created in 1888 from Albany and Laramie Counties. It was named after Amasa R. Converse, a Wyoming pioneer and Cheyenne banker. In 1911, Niobrara County was created from eastern Converse County.
The Salpa Line was hastily built along Finland's new border after territory was conquered by Russia in 1940. It never saw action but its very existence left Finland better placed for retaining her independence when the Soviet Union seized Eastern Europe.
This gun was a museum piece even in World War II, having been built in the late 19th century. Still, it did a good job in the Winter War, firing 1,000 shells into the Russians advancing on the Ladoga front.
