The Renault 21 was launched as a large family car, the car was also sold in North America as the Renault Medalion by AMC and later by Jeep-Eagle as the Eagle Medalion.

he Renault 21 sedan was launched in early 1986 as the successor to the successful Renault 18, and this was followed a few months later by the seven-seater station wagon, the R21 Nevada, marketed as the Savanna in the United Kingdom.

Unusually the Renault 21 was offered with disparate engine configurations, the 1.7 litre version featured an 'east-west' (transversely) mounted engine, but Renault had no gearbox suitable for a more powerful transverse engine: accordingly, faster versions featured longitudinally mounted (north south) engines. The two versions featured (barely perceptibly) different wheel bases: the engines were all relatively compact four-cylinder units and the engine bay was large enough to accept either configuration without reducing passenger space. However, at a time when production technologies were relatively inflexible, the need to assemble differently did adversely affect profits.

The model was launched in 1986 and had a major revamp in 1989 to bring it into line with the newly launched Renault 25 and a liftback body style was also launched.

The 2 litre TXi and sporty Turbo version was also available with the four-wheel-drive Quadra transmission, and was capable of 227 km/h (141 mph)

Unique Wickham Railbus no. 999507 (Laboratory 20) in British Rail Research Department livery on the Lavender line.

The “Elliott Track Recording Coach” was commonly referred to as the 'Wickham Railbus' and was built in 1958 by D. Wickham of Ware, Hertfordshire.

It was a self-propelled four-wheel railbus No: DB999507 with one driven axle and had a Meadows 97HP horizontal underfloor engine. It was used as a track recording car by the Chief Civil Engineer's Department from around 1958, before the BR Research Division was formed and was fitted with an early computer system supplied by Elliott Brothers (London) Ltd (Elliott Automation).

The Wickham was sold to the East Lancashire Railway in 1997 and later moved to the Middleton Railway on 11th June 2003. It is currently based at the Lavender Line in Isfield, East Sussex and is now privately owned.

The Lavender Line formed part of the Lewes to Uckfield Railway when it was opened on 18 October 1858. Within 12 months of its opening, the branch had been integrated into the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) to safeguard the company’s interests east of its London to Brighton main line. Ten years from its opening, Isfield saw through workings from Brighton to Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, via a new Uckfield–Groombridge link. The Bluebell Railway originally branched off the Lavender Line at Culver Junction, near Culver Farm between Lewes and Barcombe Mills. This junction closed in 1958 with the closure of the East Grinstead to Lewes line.

Following its closure in 1969 the track was removed in 1970 and the station at Isfield was neglected and became overgrown. After fourteen years of disuse, it was auctioned in June 1983 by British Rail and sold for £60,500 to Dave and Gwen Milham who restored the station and signal box and laid the first sections of track. Ownership of the station passed from the Milham family in 1991 and it is run by the Lavender Line Preservation Society.

The line was named 'The Lavender Line' with a historical connection in mind: A.E. Lavender and Sons were the local coal merchants who had operated from the station yard

The Watercress Line is the marketing name of the Mid-Hants Railway, a heritage railway in Hampshire, England, running 10 miles (16 km) from New Alresford to Alton where it connects to the National Rail network. The line gained its popular name in the days that it was used to transport locally grown watercress to markets in London. The railway currently operates regular scheduled services, along with dining trains, real ale trains and numerous special events throughout the year.

Last Sunday I was invited with to be a jury with another friend of mine for a photography competition held by the Kuala Langat Municipal Hall. Since we're in the neighborhood, we could not say no to visiting the Kelanang Beach, which also has a fisherman's jetty.

It's also an opportunity for me to use the Promote Controller :)

I found a collection of old negatives taken during the photographer's trip to New York for the World's Fair of 1939-40. There are some great snapshots of some of the daily goings on, as well as images of some of the more iconic structures at the fair. They are a great glimpse into the last few calm moments before the storm of war changed the world forever. Enjoy!

York railway station. York (England).

York railway station is the main-line railway station serving the city of York in North Yorkshire, England. It lies on Britain's East Coast Main Line (ECML), roughly halfway between London, the capital of England, and Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Originally it was part of the North Eastern Railway.

Despite the small size of the city, York is one of the most important railway stations on the British railway network because of its role as a key railway junction approximately halfway between London and Edinburgh. It is few miles north of the point where the Cross Country and Trans-Pennine routes via Leeds leave/join the ECML connecting Scotland and the North East with southern England, the North West and the Midlands. The junction was historically a major site for rolling stock manufacture, maintenance and repair.

Little girl yesterday, 3 years old and as articulate as many adults - she was telling Santa about the book she has about him and how she's glad he's found his boots now. Then she took hold of his hand and said (for Christmas Eve) "I'll leave a flower out for you, a pink flower, would you like that?" Then she gave Santa a hug. Just gorgeous.
