Happy Truck Thursday! These trucks were taken by our youngest son, Ian, while on a run in Portland.
Rare time off for Ian who is an Emergency Room PA in Vancouver, Washington. One of 139,000 dedicated PA's nationwide.
To this day, I have no idea what they were doing. They started for no apparent reason and after ten minutes or so, they stopped and went back to their normal activities. I have never seen this behavior before, or since.
Rail-front property doesn't really have the same ring as ocean-front or lake-front, huh?

The Line Ratchathewi (เดอะ ไลน์ ราชเทวี) is a residential skyscraper located in the district of Ratchathewi in Bangkok. Completed in 2018, the building is 142 metres tall.
Ramblers crossing the bridge near Kings Tor on the Yelverton to Princetown railway line which ran over Dartmoor. The line closed in 1956.
MNNR 48 trundles west along the Midtown Greenway in Minneapolis on the snow covered Hiawatha Line for switch work at the remaining grain facilities. The Minnesota Commercial keeps this trackage active that once saw countless trains, especially passenger trains of the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, and Rock Island.
CSX Q566 crosses 1 to 2 at State Line in Hammond, Indiana behind a pair of venerable EMD SD40-2s as more winter weather settles in.
With two of the Kansas guys and four of us locals out to shoot the LINLIN at Louisville, it made for a pretty long foam line for once...

After shooting at five locations on my chase north from Canaan Housatonic train NX12 has reached their northern destination of Pittsfield where they are running over two miles of trackage rights on CSXT's Berkshire Sub mainline to get to Pittsfield yard where they will drop their little train and switch out a large cut of interchange to take back south.
GP38-2s 2627 (originally a straight GP38 blt Jan 1971 as Penn Central 7916) and 2328 (blt in Feb 1966 as Illinois Central GP40 number 3011) have their six car train in tow on Main 1 of the old Boston and Albany at about MP QB 149.3 in this view looking west off Woodlawn Ave.
The four story brick structure in the background harkens back to Pittsfield of old having been built in 1850 and known as the Kellogg Steam Power Comoang building. This was not a traditional mill but was rather a 19th century version of an 'enterprise zone's to help seed start up businesses with space and steam power. Shoes, tack, silk, clocks and other goods were manufactured in it over the years and today the building which was renovated in 2001 houses a furniture dealer. Also seen poking above the treetops to the left of the old brick building can be seen the steeple of the 1866 St. Joseph's Catholic Church that rrises 176 ft and is topped by a 9 ft gold cross. The largest church in Berkshire County it is known as the Mother Church of the Berkshires.

On a July 1984 visit to Shops Yard in North Fond du Lac, I spotted this company gon with a scrap load of what is obviously EMD locomotive parts. – I don’t know for sure which Soo Line diesel this would have once belonged to, but it may have been from one of the units involved in the head-on wreck that had occurred up at Gilchrist, Michigan two years before. ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©

The Pannonian Plain is a large plain in Central Europe that remained when the Pliocene Pannonian Sea dried out. It is a geomorphological subsystem of the Alps-Himalaya system.
The river Danube divides the plain roughly in half.
The plain is divided among Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
The plain is roughly bounded by the Carpathian mountains, the Alps, the Dinaric Alps and the Balkan mountains.
Although rain is not plentiful, it usually falls when necessary and the plain is a major agricultural area; it is sometimes said that these fields of rich loamy loess soil could feed the whole of Europe. For its early settlers, the plain offered few sources of metals or stone. Thus when archaeologists come upon objects of obsidian or chert, copper or gold, they have almost unparalleled opportunities to interpret ancient pathways of trade.
The precursor to the present plain was a shallow sea that reached its greatest extent during the Pliocene, when three to four kilometres of sediments were deposited.
The plain was named after the Pannonians, a northern Illyrian tribe. Various different peoples inhabited the plain during its history. In the first century BC, the eastern parts of the plain belonged to the Dacian state, and in the first century AD its western parts were subsumed into the Roman Empire. The Roman province named Pannonia was established in the area, and the city of Sirmium, today Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia, became one of the four capital cities of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century.
