Macro Mondays Line Symmetry

I was down at India Point Park doing some long exposure and suddenly this house became engulfed in flames, if you zoom in you can see the firefighters on the roof looking for anyone possibly trapped. Fortunately no one was hurt but 8 people were displaced including 3 children :-((

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),

oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

Trains rumble over the rusty incline of the MBTA's Red Line tracks as it enters the Beacon Hill Tunnel to the east of the Charles/MGH Station in Charles Circle. Though the subway to Cambridge over the Longfellow Bridge opened in 1912, the Charles Circle station at the end of Charles Street, where the Beacon Hill and West End neighborhoods meet, didn't open until 1931. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Boston, Massachusetts, EE. UU.

From inside the the Riverfront Streetcar looking down the Line. Just as we pass the crossing street two pedestrians cross the tracks without loosing stride. The Riverfront Line does not actually run on the banks of the Mississippi, just parallel to the mighty river.

Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday !

Kampong Kleang is home to Khmer families who have lived on the Tonlé Sap floodplain for generations. It’s a long‑established, mostly Cambodian community where life is deeply tied to the lake’s seasonal rhythms.

Income is low in Kampong Kleang, and there isn’t much investment in infrastructure. Because the houses sit on stilts and the area floods seasonally, standard sewage systems don’t really work. Most homes use simple latrine-style toilets that extend over the river.

People bathe in the river, either from their boats or from small platforms at home. Laundry goes into the river too. Dishes are usually rinsed with river water, sometimes followed by boiled water.

Families rarely drink straight from the river. They rely on rainwater in the wet season, water delivered by boat, or water that’s been filtered or boiled.

Solid waste is burned, reused, or picked up by small local services. Plastic waste is becoming a bigger issue, so some households store it until they can dispose of it on land.

Living with the lake for generations has shaped these routines, and they’ve become part of the culture.

“This recognition, in real life, of a rhythm of surfaces, lines, and values is for me the essence of photography; composition should be a constant of preoccupation, being a simultaneous coalition – an organic coordination of visual elements.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson
