As I landed in Denver, this was the sky walking out into the parking lot. I whipped out my camera like a cowboy would draw a pistol to shoot into these amazing golden hour clouds, which came on the heels of a huge storm...the same one that delayed my flight!
The allocated subject for me this week is Liminal Space. Number 1 a street in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, UK taken in 2017.
Liminal spaces - spaces in between - draw my eye, and a sense of possibility. What lies on the other side of the creek? What awaits in the water?
I took a trip out to a flooded area the other day, where huge quantities of water were flowing across the fields, beginning to dissolve the soil and draw it with it. It was quite magical to watch, and a little bit disturbing to be in it...
So this makes a creepy counterpoint to the previous, sunny shot. Here my room light is off, window closed and I have two LED lights (each light has a cluster of three LEDs in the middle) on the roof, with some white paper in between to diffuse the bright light.
Definitely the mood is more eerie here, the diffused light makes everything look flat. And the blue in the light bley bricks seems to dominate more. Even the glossiness of the floor is dulled now and the whole scene feels stagnant? compared to the previous shot.
