Papilio demoleus, is a common and widespread swallowtail butterfly. Common names include Common Lime Butterfly, Lemon Butterfly, Lime Swallowtail, Small Citrus Butterfly, Chequered Swallowtail, Dingy Swallowtail, and Citrus Swallowtail.
It gets its common names from its host plants, which are usually citrus species such as the cultivated lime. Unlike most swallowtail butterflies, it does not have a prominent tail. The butterfly is a pest and invasive species from the Old World which has spread to the Caribbean and Central America.
At Lime Kiln Point State Park on San Juan Island, Washington. The land across the channel in front of the lighthouse is Canada.
Another simple study in color, I am playing with the color wheel and challenging myself to shoot and process in color. Sometimes I find it tricky to get my colors correct so this is good practice for me. If you have any tips or tricks feel free to share. Thanks!

Take a glass, add a lime and tonic water, illuminate it all and shoot with a macro lens and you too can create a crazy shot like this. I really was going for something less abstract but decided to just have some fun with all of the bubbles. It has been one of those mornings where I have had a difficult time finding inspiration but alas a 365 project knows no rest.
taking at lime street thanks for on the way home from the lakes i will be caching up over the next few days thanks for looking paul
An avenue of pollarded lime trees is quite often a feature in the formal gardens of historic houses of a particular epoch. It was fashionable - the pollarded trees have limited stature but dense clouds of verdant leaves. In the heat of summer, it’s ideal for a romantic walk or a secluded lover’s tryst. It’s not bad in the normal rain either.
This was taken last month in the gardens of Athelhampton House in Dorset. We found it a fascinating visit (we returned for a second visit the day after having done the house first).
The young woman in the picture is pushing a child’s buggy, though, so I think that we’re probably a bit later in the story ;)
This wobbly is a two-second exposure, which gave me a chance to make two camera movements: a down and an across in a cross shape. It’s an interesting result though a little contrasty because of the bright sunlight. I like the ghosts everywhere, at least one pushing a buggy…
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x :)
"Tilia × europaea" Common Lime tree not the citrus fruit variety. For Macro Monday theme "just leaves" HMM!
