The living room is mostly put back together, after last week's paint job. I am so very happy with the green and this is my new favorite room in the house. But it makes me wish the other rooms could be painted/re-painted asap (with someone else doing the work). Sigh.

Another look at a section of the Little Library showing a portion of George Eastman's vast book collection and the beautiful fireplace and mirror which are in this room. The Little Library was completed in 1927, after a year of work, replacing a Reception room, that had been in this space since 1905. Such small reception rooms, once considered essential to large houses, were not used much by the late 1920s, and Eastman realizing that he needed additional shelf space for his extensive collection of books, therefore decided to have the Little Library, named by its designer, Francis Bacon, created at that time. Eastman liked to sit in his panelled room, before the marble mantlepiece fireplace with a warm coal fire in the polished steel grate, and read his books. Reflected in the mirror you can get a look at the up-to-date bowl light fixture, which replaced the Caldwell cut-glass chandelier. Eastman, ever the technical perfectionist, found the chandelier lacking in efficiency, he felt the bowl-like fixture would cast light downward, as well as throwing it upward and then it would reflect off the white ceiling. You can see the reflection of the plaster ceiling detail in the mirror. The Little Library is located in the mansion at the George Eastman House and Gardens, 900 East Ave, Rochester, NY.

"I saw a very beautiful Baccarat chandelier. So far, so normal! Then it began to rain on the chandelier. How odd! The chandelier, still identifiably Baccarat, opend a large, white umbrella and drifted skywards. I shouted "Why?" And from afar came the chandelier's response: "Because I am Marie Cocquine, and because everything is possible in a dream". - Philippe Starck

The brochure says "The Price Building is Quebec City's oldest highrise, and also the city's only building styled after the popular Art Deco design movement that reigned in Paris in the 1920's."

I can't lie on my bed and look up at this lighting fixture in my bedroom without thinking dirty thoughts thanks, in part, to the slightly off-color remarks of someone who noticed it while helping with the move to the new house a year ago (yes, I'm looking at you >inkycat<!) Actually, it's very amusing at times. I mean, who doesn't want to wake up every morning with one of these in their face (or two... you know how it goes.)

Design from 1939 Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia Airport. The Hollywood Squares American television comedy and game show black & white pilot episode was filmed for CBS in 1965.

The advantage was that the perch was off the ground. Walkers can't climb. Even the former linemen weren't coordinated enough any more to climb.

The disadvantage was that when 4,623 walkers accidentally push on the pole, the structure falls. Dinner time!

Octavio the Telephone Pole has stood on this spot for years. He's seen faces. He's seen clouds. He's carried the burden of lights, speakers, banners and bird poop. Octavio is old and his mind is not hitting on all cylinders any more. But, every once in a while, Octavio flashes on life before insanity and then, just as quickly, he's gone again.

Custom Recessed Lighting Designs

If you dream of a modern kitchen that feels good to create great meals in and even socialize or get to know guests than updating your lighting design could do wonders. Lighting is a very important element to consider when remodeling this frequently used room in your home.

Recessed lighting is very nice since manufacturers have come out with lower profile lights. Even with the smaller versions they provide a great amount of illumination in your kitchen and avoid shadows. All of this helps to make your kitchen appear larger too. www.conductiveelectric.com
