I just loved how this glass bottled looked when I shot it. Really wanted to take all of the color out so the glass stood out more. I've never been happy with any of my black and white conversions in Photoshop, it's more me than PS for sure. I ended up downloading Silver Efex Pro 2, 15 day free trial to see if I like it. This shot is from that and 3 or 4 adjustment layers in PS.
Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

Painting with Light... In this shot, I aimed the flashlight directly on the rhythm/treble with for about 10 seconds and then held it above to follow the curve on top.
Assignment 52: Painting with Light
With morning servicing complete, Valley Railroad Consolidation #97 makes her way light across the yard in Essex, CT, headed to the depot to pick up a passenger consist. This 1926 Alco product is the Valley's longest serving steam locomotive, having entered service here in 1973, just two years after the former New York, New Haven & Hartford line was established as a tourist operation. On this particular morning in October of 2024, the locomotive was performing for a photo shoot organized by Dak Dillon Photography.
A lighted lamp
in the middle of the day,
a light lost in the light.
And the theory of light breaks down:
the greatest recedes
like a tree falling from the fruit.
Holy Light
Holy light
Cast away
In cold worlds
Of material form
Locked away
For ages
Waiting in darkness
It strives
To burst its bonds
Of material force
But being opened
By divine will
The smallest foramen
Will suffice the light
To emanate
Holy light
Whirling around
Embracing the form
Bestowing its gift
Of color and warmth
Melting her away
To merge
Into One
Being now
Holy form

Elements of "n", and disorder, but mimicking an arch shape as I tried to capture the image of a monument.
Long exposure time shot taken for Light Junkes "Monument" photo challenge; 2/12 - 2/19/10.
Mounted a green LED rope light to a PVC frame and waved it while moving in an arch pattern.
Then fired two SB-800 flashes at the background.
The rope light did a great job of lighting up the patio bricks.
Took this idea from Photo Extremist . Is a very simple light painting using water drops over a CD. Trying to use the reflection on the drops to create the same paterns inside the drops.

It's good to be back in colour.
I'd just got off the bus and was walking home after work when the nearly full moon began it's game of hide and seek.
A single frame, hand held at 1/60th with a focal length of 150mm. That's 300mm in the old "full frame" money. Glad I had image stabilization to help out.
I like these stairs and the perspective they afford from the bottom. This has been processed to blow out the light at the top as I like the effect.
Yesterday, I lead a group of photographers on the 5th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk here in Morro Bay. I gave a demonstration during the walk of how to light paint using Morro Rock with a beautiful night sky as the backdrop. I'm planning a Workshop on the subject with Pat Brown for the SLO Camera Club in November.
One single long exposure. No photoedition : straight out of the camera except for contrast/crop.

I'm quite happy with this one in the end.

Colour self portrait. It is the colour version of Day 35: www.flickr.com/photos/brady93/6858345308/in/photostream I saved a copy from the RAW file, which is saved in colour, no matter the camera setting.
