Sometimes, this play of light can vary within just a few seconds, so in days where many clouds are fastly moving in the sky, it's a lucky event to capture the sunrays....

That's the light we both noticed, the friendly stranger from the previous photo's story and me :)

No offence meant to the famous lyrics of the iconic rock band, Doors, but it sure is no time to hesitate and see how India is stuck in a quagmire of gender bias.

I am reminded of the grim novel "Grapes of Wrath" written by John Steinbeck dealing with poverty and migrant jobs at the time of the Great Depression in America. John Steinbeck was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 1962.

I remember reading the book in my school days but how much of it I understood is a totally different thing.

This girl child of a family of migrant workers from Rajasthan, camping a 1000 kilometres away from their dry waterless desert village. They were now in the cold and clean hills near Khara Patthar in Himachal and were engaged in construction of a large hall being made for trade in horticulture produce of the local area.

The open kitchen, the clanging aluminum pots and pans, the large open hall also served as their place to sleep.

Millennia have passed but the girl child continues to remain marginalized in a totally patriarchal society that is India. She should be at school learning.

India needs to light a fire. A fire of learning and understanding not empty slogans of our politicians.

I like the way that different phases of the flower also have differing light, all lined up on the same focal plane.

would you tell me?

Out for a walk yesterday evening, I used the X10 in its pro low light setting (3200iso) to snap this handheld, not bad for a pocket camera. See meta data: www.flickr.com/photos/railphoto/8119427727/meta/in/photos... However like minded photographer Andrew Sharp was sensible and used a tripod gaining a much crisper image.

Important neither of us was together or had planned this! Just coincidence and are just like minded photographers in Ely out and about!!

I got completely caught out by this fleeting burst of light and had no time to really do anything with composition - but just had to shoot out across the valley to capture it's colour on the hillside beneath the grey skies.

Using a light strip and a little creativity, we were able to bring some life to the dark and quiet Stumphouse Tunnel in Walhalla, SC.

A walk this morning. -11°C and snow showers.

The flow of water around this boulder in a stream was creating standing waves and the sun light was creating a repeat of the pattern on the rocks below the water.

Let your light shine so that men may know you are an ambassador for Christ. @Spiral

Nebulosus Severine in luminous glory.

Couple of out takes from the weekend attempts at light painting.

For this one, I had previously made a light wand with a cold cathode tube. It's quite a good tool, I'm just not sure what I'm doing with it.

I have to point out here that the wand is white only, the rainbow was added in PS!

Like all cats, Lexi sleeps a lot. I saw this beautiful strong light and shadow one late afternoon and caught it.
