three hours I've been wandering by foot around last night, hoping to find a little cousy place where only the full moonlight brings pale colors... you guess it. none found.
There are some evil burned spots in the photo, guess I will have to take it again...

I have tried this for the first time today. Just in the garden, so I hope the friendly moon and Jupiter help a bit.
After seeing luziferian's picture today, I thought, I could try that out myself. I had tried this out with a sparkler before, which was not really great, because there are not enough sparks and they don't fly very far. This is steel wool in a wire whisk. Much better. I would only do this in safe places. A barn full of hey might be a wrong choice.
As many ofyou will know, I was an old friend of Charlotte Bevan. Yesterday we had the hardest day, and had to say good bye to our dear sunshine friend and her very young daughter.
A week ago in winds of 60mph, a fewofus helped our friend Mike (who had taught Lottie to climb) put lanterns in a tree for charlottes memory. 30 lanterns, one for each year of her life. Last night, justafter dusk, we lit the lanterns and held hands, old friends and new friends, friends of Charlotte together, by her shrine or by the fire above on the hill.

Finally figured out how to get the effect I was looking for! This was a little test I did a few days ago. Now to properly mount everything! :-)

Photo taken in very heavy light polution, i have no idea if the colours are correct or what part of the Milky way this is, I just pointed the camera up and took 20 x 20 second frames and averaged them in Photoshop. I hope to go to a dark sight soon to see what i can capture then. Has heavy editing to reveal the structure and colours

This was a quick effort but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out - SOOC other than a slight crop. I found I got better effects with a dimmer light source - I tried an LED spotlight first but then used a torch with running out batteries.
I shall give this another go when I have more time - and a more interesting subject!
I've said it before, but these books are very good indeed. The amount of knowledge contained in such a slim volume is remarkable.
The illustrations are always top quality, but this book; Light, Mirrors & Lenses, is particularly good. J H Wingfield illustrated this. I think he was perhaps the best artist in the Ladybird stable.

One night whilst camping I decided to try out some night-time photography whilst keeping the kid entertained. Setting the camera to a shutterspeed of 30sec and letting them play around with a flash light. It wasn’t until after they saw the shot they realised they were painting with the light. What followed was a session of light painting.

Shot was made at a time when I did not have a supply of old lenses. Today, I could do it better. It is simply a Sigma 18-200 with conventional engine and indistinct markings. But it was still better than KIT Nikon lenses.
Snímek jsem dělal v době, kdy jsem neměl zásobu starých objektivů. Dnes bych to uměl líp. Je to obyčejná Sigma 18-200 s klasickým motorem a nevýraznou kresbou. Byla ale přesto lepší než setové objektivy Nikon.
