The light was so beautiful yesterday....

A photographer on Instagram has inspired me to find beauty and interest in artificial light. He has been taking early morning walks and capturing intriguing images of artificial light. I always craved beautiful, natural sunlight and thought artificial light was obnoxious and something to avoid. After seeing some of his images I was outside one evening after sunset and saw this and I realized I’ve grown to appreciate artificial light more.

I may have done this before but these are a great fun way to demonstrate light painting to the unintiated. Shot in one single photographic exposure as usual.

Light and shadows on snowy ground. The hare tracks caught my eyes too.

Isnt that how life is? For this kids in Mohakhali slum, its more darkness than light.

Contours of light - The view down the Trotternish Ridge from the Quiraing with a perfectly positioned break in the heavy, moody, clouds allowing slivers of dawn light to hit the ridge. The rich, early light reveals the curving slopes of Cleat and in the distance, the angular cliffs of Beinn Edra, amplifying the contours of the distinctive features of the Trotternish.

Wonderfully atmospheric conditions typifying the very best of what this inspirational, world class, landscape has to offer.

Some folks wanted to see this bridge up close under this light and some folks wanted to see this bridge at dark. This is as dark as I am comfortable with because there are a couple of pubs behind me (and one in front of me off camera) with the lager louts paying too much interest in my work.

Apologies to other folks if this bridge shows up too much in my stream; I work within 10 minutes walking distance of it and I live within 30 minutes walking distance so it's quite tempting to try and shoot it under different conditions.

This is a 52 second exposure; I much prefer a later one I took with a longer exposure but this one has the blur of a red bus which makes it slightly more interesting and the other did not.
