This turned out better than I expected - I wanted to get all the rocks below the horizon but just couldn't get the sea close enough if I did. You can't have everything!

One of those photo's I probably should not have published, every so now and than you screw up and this is one of the finest of my, walking the dogs on a fine summer day and you see the sun light and the shadows and in your mind it's all you can think of and as a done deal, this is gone be a fine shot, and I forget the check the meter in the camera, bonkers son of a ......
So why published then you might ask, because this is still my photography, and also a bad photo is still a photo, and in some sort of way I do like the idea of making this photo, hopefully the next time I keep my mind on the job and check the light before shooting.

Light and shadows on buttress roots deep in the lowland forest, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. A ray of light pentrating the forest canopy cast shadows from the surrounding vegetation on the large buttress roots of a Kaway tree. Sepia tone conversion, to emphasize the shapes.

(A quiet small corner, just few steps from the haste outside)
This, my fine flickr friends, is what the inside of my head has looked like for the last week - the feathered canyons and dark clouds (to quote Joni Mitchell)of a summer cold descended upon me . No photos, no inclinations even, no uploads and no likes, no comments and finally this evening I rushed down to the beach to get some shots and it was overcast and no waves. I looked upwards and saw these great summer storm clouds with the sun peeking out behind for just a few minutes - a perfect visual metaphor for my week ;)
Feeling the constant war between the darkness and the light. I can’t find the words to express it so I make pictures.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

Last one in the series, again shot with a modified Helios 44-2 58mm f/2 Lens with M42 to Canon EF adapter + 12 mm Kenko extension tube.
Out of the shots of the forsylia flower I posted previously, this one is my favour. Which one is yours? Here is the little secret behind.
I have this Helios 44-2 vintage lens for over four years now. I bought it for its famous swirly bokeh; but I feel it hard to find the sweet spot. Apparently you need a pretty good distance in the background so the little light spots and details can register into that swirl shape.
Recently I learnt online that the front and the rear elements of Helios 44-2 could be reversed. Unfortunately my version does not have enough threads to reverse the front, so I decided to give it a try to reverse the rear element.
Wow, surprisingly after only a few shots, the crazy bokeh is unmatched and it also has remarkable color retention.
Now I am convinced that the inexpensive Helios vintage lens is a very fun lens to have and you can do many mods with it. From now on I definitely will use mine more often.
