Not quite the results I had hoped for after reading the Lifehacker article, but it's not terrible :)

Look at that awesomeness. The cables that are hanging down all plug into my computer so they wont' be visible

A while back my dresser quits on me. I remember the Lifehacker article on making a bookcase with the drawers.

Since the drawers are the same size, can't quite get the bookcase hack to work. But I could hack an existing bookcase. My mother made one for me when I was a child, not being a carpenter, one shelf was much larger than the others. For the last 15 or so years it's held some books and largish items, but not really useful. This week I added the extra drawers to the case to create an extra shelf.

Leftover drawers were used to make a plant stand. I put them catty corner(?) so that they fit puzzle like. I wouldn't recommend doing that where they stood alone, mine are propped up by wall and the shelf.

The recipe doesn't really give any time guidelines, so I took it out after 15 minutes. It looks done, right?

Here I'm meeting Gina from Lifehacker. I asked her to sign the page where she introduces todo.txt. Great geek productivity tool! www.todotxt.com

I couldn't continue to use my Christmas sewing caddy when it's not Christmastime, so I had to make a new one. I chose two of the colorways for the Dance With Me cheater cloths that were part of the fat-quarter-of-the-month club Schnookie got me for my birthday. I thought they'd be fun colors for dreary wintertime and a fun use for cheater cloth. The finished result is far -- FAR -- from my best work, but it does the job of holding my thread in place, so I guess there's that. Heh. (I debated whether to even take a picture of it, but then remembered a post I read on Lifehacker about keeping new year's resolutions. Someone suggested blogging about it so the threat of public humiliation would keep oneself on track. I figure posting this picture will encourage me to remember next time to press the seams before closing up the tube, dummy!)

I got the pleasure to meet a person in my industry who I have the utmost admiration and respect for. Gina Trapani is a Open Source developer, author, host on TWIG, founder of Lifehacker, and a prolific blogger. It was a real honor.

Due to Wil Wheaton's incredible popularity following his book signing in San Diego, Lifehacker's article on him is unavailable. ;(

It was runnier than I would have liked, but still very tasty.

Life in a snowy winter climate without a garage includes a yearly sentence of months wielding an ice scraper to clean off your car. Make winter less arduous with these handy DIY de-icer recipes.

Sure you can start your car and let it idle away, melting the snow off in the process. Idling your car for long enough to completely loosen up all the ice and snow is waste of gas and the cash you spent filling up your tank. So I'm a bit data-obsessed... since the first day I moved to DC I've been tracking a whole slew of varying traits, each of which roughly fits into the five traits seen at right.

Each is equalised to a score out of ten. Unfortunately this means my Exercise rating gets drawfed between my day-to-day lethargy intermixed with here-and-there activity... versus my crazed intensive month-long backpacking trips where I rack up several dozen miles a day. So Exercise gets pushed pretty far down by my readily-obvious Scandinavia trip.

The light-colored lines are the individual values; the bold lines are a moving average trendline. The far-right drops off as a result of the moving average picking up zeroes beyond the current date.

So yeah... that's basically the gist of it.

I stuck some velcro on the back, so that when I bring both I can stick them together for ease of transport. Plus it keeps them from hanging about willy-nilly when plugged into a wall outlet high enough that they dangle.

My iPhone apps were starting to get out of control, so I googled methods for organizing them. I found two articles that inspired me to do the following:

-Make a blank home screen

-Create a Faves folder on the dock

-Organize other apps into folders titled with action verbs

-Start those folders on page 2 of the home screen

It's not a flawless system -- Photo isn't an action verb, and Photograph is too long -- but so far it does seem very tidy and intuitive.

Paula Rizzo Listful Thinking Using lists to be more productive, highly successful and less stressed

Workin' this weekend, on the April issue of The Digital Journalist. The whiteboard todo list with progress bar is the only way to get through it.

Little calendars I made for me and my friends who are doing a 12-week fitness challenge. :)

Inspired by a pic on lifehacker. Stands stable even when typing, supports landscape & portrait and allows charging.

Lifehacker.
