I took this picture last Saturday it’s not a great picture, but it served as an opportunity for the Lord to teach me a life lesson. My husband and I hiked into an area of Snolic Mountain where we hadn’t been during the spring. We found traces of another old home place on the mountain. The only evidence that could be seen of a family’s home was blooming narcissus, hyacinths, and forsythia. A stone wall which may have served as a pen for the family’s animals was still standing, but no evidence of a house foundation could be found. I kept thinking the only things left where a family had once lived was blooming flowers. These plants were beautiful. They were flourishing without any human tending. They were thriving with only God’s provision of rain, soil and sunshine. These beauties were likely planted by a pioneer woman, who settled in the Ozarks over 100 years ago. A woman who wanted to enrich her family’s home with the beauty of spring blooms. My next thoughts were, the women who planted these beautiful flowers has left this earth, yet something she had done was still here testifying of her presence on this earth. My next thoughts, so what will be here to testify to my presence on this earth? I pray that my presence on this earth will reveal a woman who loved the Lord and lived her life to honor her Savior and that I made a significant impact on my family. That I passed down a Christian heritage of faith and values. I hope I pass along traditions, family history and a belief that family is an incredible gift from God. Time will only tell. So the next time you see daffodils blooming in the woods...may it remind us what evidence of our presence will be left on this earth?
