A vibrant Bird of Paradise refreshed by early Spring rains. All of the plants and animals are so happy for the rain we have received this year! :) I hope we get more before the season is over, so the drought is completely reversed. :)

Each season has its own uniqueness and color pallet. My favorite time of year is Autumn. The warm colors of the maples and oaks combined with the coolness of the evergreens and watery skies. Welcome Autumn! (The official Autumnal Equinox is on September 23, 2018)

After record-breaking heat here in California, the autumn weather change will be most welcome! This sunset was taken after a day of 110F (43C) temperatures. The heat broke today. Praying for those affected by the weather, fires, and those affected by the horrible storms in the Southern United States.

I'm not sure who was more surprised: me or the parakeet. :p I hope he made it home. Made a very whimsical snapshot. :)

Far below the mountains and canyon layers at Cedar Breaks National Monument is Cedar City, Utah at sunset.

Alpenglow gives Half Dome in Yosemite National Park a golden crown as the sun sets for the day.

When you go to Bryce Canyon National Park for the first time you will be blown away by the grandness and sheer scope of the landscape, but also by the natural hoodoo formations that seem to form stone cities out of the dust, not made by human hands.

A handsome male deer coming down the grass hillside after 100+ temperatures kept him and his companions in the higher elevations amongst the oaks. The evening sunset lights him up perfectly. A perfect end to a lovely evening, and finally a cool breeze.

Macro shot of beautiful and colorful peacock feathers.

Hoping all of my Flickr family and friends are doing well. Got the studio set up now, hoping to be back to more frequent posts very soon! :)

Happy Birthday, Zion National Park!

A Heavenly view of the Watchman in the evening glowing light, just as the sun starts to set on a perfect rainy autumn day.

(Digging in the archives today. I love this shot! February 15, 2016)

A hoodoo window overlooking the canyons and forested meadows below Bryce Canyon National Park.

A beautiful and quiet stream, hidden deep in the forest. Sunlight from the early morning bathing its beauty in warm life-giving luminance. Peace and tranquility, Heaven on Earth. (No tripod, sorry.)

*Had some tragedy in the family to deal with, and some other important things. I apologize for not being able to post more, respond to your comments more, and view your wonderful work! I will try to catch up, very soon! Best wishes for a peaceful and beautiful day, everyone! :) Don't take it for granted, tempus fugit.

Beautiful first sunlight streaming through misty ancient oak trees.

A monochrome capture of a wildflower in the alfalfa field.

A peaceful and light-filled day on the water at Monterey Bay by Carmel, in California. Many types of boats can be seen, and even birds enjoying the wonderfulness of such a peaceful and magical day on the bay.

Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me.

This succulent berry grows at high altitudes in Utah's diverse alpine landscape. Also called the mountain gooseberry and the gooseberry currant. (Cedar Breaks National Monument)

Magical Bryce Canyon National Park in all its glory. Such beautiful colors. Truly does feel like you are in another world. :) Can you see the people on the trails??? :) Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah.

(Sorry for deleting my last photo. It was an accidental duplicate.)

Sunset over the palms. A magical moment.

Tiny seashell and sand granules in macro, like sparkling hidden gems. A tiny world full of detail and wonder. How marvelous is nature! :)

A small sampling of the unbelievable abundance this year. Was able to share quite a bit, even with the squirrels and birds. :) Beautiful California plums.

A beautiful day at very special Mono Lake.

A beautiful golden oak tree stands glowing majestically in the midst of giant pine and cedars, with dark blue shadows of granite cliffs coloring the background.

(Repost: March 21, 2016 - Digging in the archives. In the studio trying to meet a deadline! :) Enjoy!)

One of our very agreeable neighbors. We have many herds of range cattle that come to visit us, but this one is resident to the adjacent winery and farm. She hangs out with the Holstein ladies. Such a photogenic face. :)

Tiny brilliant-colored snowplant buds (Sarcodes sanguinea) push up through the newly thawed ground of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It always seems very special to find these small crimson treasures in the spring. Soon these buds will be large red flowers, seemingly from another time. Interestingly enough, the snowplant does not use photosynthesis, it actually grows from fungi under the ground. So, sunlight is not necessary. You will find these treasures usually in the darker places of the forests.

A hammer-like hoodoo formation at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Layers of rich desert color and evergreens grace the landscape behind it.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Reposting in honor of the longest Total Lunar Eclipse of the century. Alas, it will not be visible to us here in the US, but will be spectacular nonetheless!

Took a second shot at capturing a full lunar eclipse on April 4, 2015 at Easter and Passover. This time the eclipse was shot away from city lights, far out in the Mojave Desert in California. It was an awesome moment in time to watch. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend!

This is just one of my many photos from the El Dorado National Forest and surrounding area. It could be these flowers are gone, ravaged by the wildfires, only God knows. We are mourning the loss of Grizzly Flats, CA with our dear friends and their neighbors who have lost everything. Please keep them and the others displaced by all of the world's calamities and disasters in your prayers. They need them badly!

Gorgeous wildflowers lit by sunlight against a dark forest backdrop.

A beautiful old cypress tree growing on a grassy knoll along the coast in Monterey, CA. I don't know why, but the scene just makes me feel joy. Joy in the morning.

An injured and sad little seal came up on a crowded beach on Sunday at Pebble Beach in Monterey Bay, CA. It was slightly deformed by one smaller flipper, and may not have been doing very well. This poor baby could not have picked a better time. Several caring visitors stood by and watched over it while the authorities came. Being close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Rehabilitation Center, this little one's future is probably a lot brighter than it would have been alone in the wild. I wish it all the luck in the world. Who could resist that face?

Beautiful purple and green wood sorrel growing in the moist dark. A March favorite. Happy Spring and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy Fence Friday, everyone. Hope you have a good weekend. :)

...To borrow a quote from Willie Wonka. A weary world needs a little light, so let your light so shine before men. (Yellow rosebud, lit with minimal sunlight, in shade with complementary purple in the background.)

A lone Joshua Tree (Yucca Tree) sits along a lonely, dusty road in the middle of the Mojave Desert. What a view it has. What stories could it tell?

One of my favorite places to visit is the White Mountains, opposite the Eastern Sierras near the Owens River Valley area. Here, many ancient trees grow, the most famous being the Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest with its aptly named "Methuselah Tree," one of the oldest living organisms on earth with an estimated age at 4,847-years-old.

This tree, I thought (when I didn't know anything), was an ancient bristlecone. Then I learned that the Western Juniper tree (Juniperus Occidentalis) can also be quite ancient, and looks similar to the bristlecone at this age. The oldest known juniper tree is estimated to be over 3,000-years-old and is located in the Stanislaus National Forest in California. This tree is in fact an ancient Western Juniper. I call it the "Menorah Tree" because of its look, and it is one of my personal favorite places to come visit and reflect. This tree, I am sure, is quite ancient by its appearance. The juniper is one of my favorite type of trees for its history, and the provision it provides many cultures and creatures.

Mount Whitney reigns as the highest point in the contiguous United States with an elevation of 14,505 ft. She rises high above the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain desert plains, like a sentinel guarding the way to Heaven. In the foreground are unique boulders from the famous Alabama Hills area, still used today by Hollywood as a favorite filming destination. You might recognize the area in your favorite Western movie.

Humid, hot days have been exactly what the beautiful and elegant Hibiscus desired in order to bring out the best in her. Her brilliant red blossom is the Belle of the Ball.

This red maple tree, glowing with Heavenly vibrant reds in brilliant sunlight, grows along a desert canyon wash.

(Digging in the Archives Today - September 1, 2017) Happy first day of September, now for the autumn changes... :)

Heavenly views, to say the least. What a marvelous and wonderful beauty that nature is. "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." - Albert Einstein

Thank you for over 1,000,000 views and over 2,000 follows! Thank you so much for your support all these years on Flickr! :)

Sorry that I have been away, yet again. My lovely daughter has moved in with us all the way from California. We are very much enjoying it, but my... where does one get time anymore? :) Hope to have things settling now, again, to post more pictures!!!

Beautiful and plump pyracantha berries, ready to be eaten by the birds and animals. An abundant autumnal harvest of nature! :)

Lovely green carpet moss hidden in a snowy wooded glen in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Yosemite National Park. High above the valley floor and the throngs of visitors below. Untouched by time and mankind.

A large hoodoo in the form of a sitting giant. Just one of the many formations here to see in Utah's Red Canyon at Bryce Canyon National Park.

Two adventurers survey the vast landscape at Bryce Canyon National Park, as they plan their hike through the towering hoodoos and red canyons.

The Merced River runs through Yosemite National Park. It has long been one of the valley's most beautiful and colorful compositional elements for photographers. (November in Yosemite)

Such a clown. :)

My friend just told us that yesterday was "International Cat Day" and I wanted to repost this picture of my J.J. being very cat-like! He is the funniest guy I know! :) - August 9, 2016

A colorful evening view of Tanaya Canyon and Half Dome from Glacier Point.

A gorgeous moon over Yosemite Valley in late February. This photo was taken on February 20, 2016 on Ansel Adam's birthday from about 5,300 ft. in elevation. (Yosemite National Park)

This point along 17 Mile Drive is called "Restless Sea" for good reason. Such a breathtaking view!
