I saw this fly among the cow parsley flowers. It seemed to be acting strangely moving in what looked like awkward positions, and didn't fly away. Only when I got home and looked at the images did I realise that the fly was a corpse (or soon-to-be corpse) being manhandled by a sinister white spider. The markings on the spider's body which look like a shocked human face add to the ghostly effect.
I think it's a crab spider. WIkipedia says of them:
Thomisidae do not build webs to trap prey, though all of them produce silk for drop lines and sundry reproductive purposes; some are wandering hunters and the most widely known are ambush predators. Some species sit on or beside flowers or fruit, where they grab visiting insects. Individuals of some species, such as Misumena vatia and Thomisus spectabilis, are able to change colour over a period of some days, to match the flower on which they are sitting. Some species frequent promising positions among leaves or bark, where they await prey, and some of them sit in the open, where they are startlingly good mimics of bird droppings.
I found this shoot inside of a hollowed tree trunk .. I guess a little bit of moisture and a firm place to hold on is all that is required for this shoot to grow and flourish.

---- some short stories, collected while walking down the street ... in search of fleeting moments ...(they are photographic shots taken one-two months ago, scenes of daily life obviously captured before the current restrictions, implemented to stem the spread of the now worldwide infection caused by the covid-19) ....

Life in Spring means enjoying the warm sun and the cool grass. It means watching birds and bees. It also means getting terribly dirty because the fresh soil in the flowerbeds is irresistable. And it means shedding your thick winter coat and feeling slim and light again. Life in Spring is fab !

In the Ochre Pits near Lyndhurst South Australia with some moonlight and a torch. Under the Milky Way. Unusual landscape! Tamron lens, processed in Lightroom with a daylight white balance for colour spectrum in the stars.
