Doddridge Library (left), Barnstaple, built in 1667 by Barnstaple Corporation as provided for in the will of local merchant John Doddridge. Now part of the Parish Church with the original volumes now housed at the University of Exeter.

On June 6th the City Council reserves NOK 40,000 for a construction fund for a new main library. The decision is based on 130 years of wandering across the city.

Summer is here again and the Friendswood Library kicked it off with a Reading Roundup! The theme this year for Summer is the Old West with lots of cowboys, rodeos and of course, reading!

Quiet reading room in the Meadowridge Library.
Madison Public Library’s Meadowridge Library reopened to the public in a new location at 5726 Raymond Road on September 15, 2014. A small opening celebration occurred on Friday, September 19, 2014, including remarks from Mayor Paul Soglin, Library Director Greg Mickells, Meadowridge Campaign Chair Rob Stroud, and Meadowridge Manager Alice Oakey. Remarks were followed with a reception with punch and cookies hosted by the Friends of the Meadowridge Library.

The Gilbert Hart Library was given to the town of Wallingford, VT in 1894. Hart was a native of Wallingford and a sharpshooter during the Civil War. He moved to Detroit following the war. It was there that he developed and sold the first silicate grinding wheel, making him a very wealthy man.
The main library branch located on York Street in downtown Louisville. The statue is of George D. Prentise, a friend of Henry Clay and locally transplanted writer of note.
