The State Dining Room on the First Level is located in the northeast corner of the house. It was used for formal family gatherings and special dining events with guests. The mahogany paneling was stained to look like cherry wood and the walls are decorated with Moroccan leather with brass headed tacks. Measuring 86' x 20', this room could accommodate 100 seats if combined with the personal dining room. The ceiling has mahogany cross beams, and the chandelier is original and the most extravagant in the house. The fireplace is Italian Marble in an Eastlake design with a Rising Sun in the fire box. A not so bad reject from a Crappy Camera Club walkabout. Didn't quite fit with the other more minimal shots from that day.

The sunsets on the Levels in Somerset can be truly breathtaking - as though the sky is literally on fire. I'd forgotten all about this picture until looking through tonight. Thought it might be worth sharing.

Langham Crossing, Rutland
En route to a garden centre we were approaching Langham level crossing (Oakham) as Class 66 66076 passed with 4L38 East Midlands Gateway to Felixstowe containers (thanks to Realtime Trains for working info). Notice the old semaphore signals on the right
