I flipped out a little when I discovered this at a local purveyor of all things cool. The sales dude said they predate Moleskine, and the 1917 suggests that could be so -- although the books themselves are made in Taiwan. This one is huge -- 9" x 12.5" -- with 237 numbered pages, 32 perforated pages in back, acid free paper, and an expandable pocket. The pages also have an outer margin, which is nice.

It opens flat. The binding is sewn. If I wrote my books by hand, I could see committing a manuscript to this thing.

On a whim this morning I stopped by Norfolk Stationery to peruse the shelves for any new goodies and was delighted to discover the newly arrived Leuchtturm 1917 (3x6) notebooks, four of which came home with me. I've been wanting to try these for quite some time.
