Pancake and I spotted Ami while we were getting Pancake some treats. This was "Derby Day" and a rainy day at that. Ami was choosing some flowers for her Mom for Mother's Day. Interestingly enough this Walmart had no women's hats for sale - anywhere.

Walmart is a good place to piace to shop simply because it is spacious, roomy and one can choose their hours to visit - outside of the insanely mad rushes as they are open 24/7. For many of us it is much better as it is a relatively safe place nearby for us to walk indoors and at least get some exercise outside of the gym. With balance and mobility issues the treadmill can certainly be a challenge at times. Unfortunately many in this area believe it is unusual and even criminal to prefer to shop during off hours. They of course have never been disabled. Walmart generally is very service-dog friendly unlike many places here in Kentucky. Thank you Walmart for at least recognizing that.

AT&T, CSX working on RR crossing gates which have been malfunctioning for at least a decade. Oil spills & environmental violations throughout this area both above ground & underground ignored as elsewhere in Louisville & the rest of Kentucky. No neighborhood is exempt. All of the above had been previously reported years ago with no action taken.

Across the street is Taco Bell, KFC, Arby's, AT&T, Starbucks, El Nopal, PNC Bank, etc....

This tragic train vs. auto accident occurred a few weeks ago and a young life was taken - he was only 19 years old. He apparently attempted to make a right hand turn crossing the tracks. From looking at the scene it appears the train pushed the car with such a force it went airborne and landed over a hundred feet into a deep ditch. My sincerest condolences to all involved. But there are *no* gates. The following photos depict the scene and are quite disturbing considering this loss of a promising young life could have and should have been prevented and was not.

There have been similar accidents at this same crossing in the past.

This is what is confusing to me:

East Blue Lick Road Add gates to existing flashing lights and bell system at CSX Railroad Crossing on East Blue Lick Road. (343 526X) Add to TIP as part of KIPDA #174 Various general rail/highway protection improvement program projects. Add FY2014 Construction $240,000 federal; RHPD funding

So WHERE ARE THE GATES? Better yet where is our $240,000 and the BIDS for a $50,000 job.

UPDATE: I was informed today June 7, 2018, gates have been installed at this crossing now - unsure how long ago they were installed, but they're up and hopefully functioning correctly. Thank you.

It is so hard to get local communities here involved in recycling. Yet they wonder why there is no local seafood available here and wonder why there are fish and swim advisories posted Statewide in Kentucky. It's just gonna take time. Hopefully in my lifetime.

Brittani is truly a shining star! Brittani just cut, conditioned and styled my hair and she aced it! It is a rarity indeed to find someone like her - she's at Regis Salon in Clarksville Indiana. I hope Brittani stays around for a while. Her Dad's a US Marine so she tends to relocate now and then. But she is indeed a gem!
