Speed (or lack of it) is everything in this sort of exercise. I tied down my impatience tight for these but don't know if I can stand to work this slowly too often. Anyone have views on how often to exercise one's hand-eye this way?
Christmas tree in local museum, used w/c pencil then paint, love the intense colors with this technique.

1 Chalk pastels--a little too pretty in yellows, so I added a layer of dark grey on top
2.Iridescent bronze paint--this is pretty weird in person, shining with an eerie glow, might be useful for vintage Halloween ghosts
3. Gesso followed by sepia watercolor pencil--this was great for making things look scruffy and it goes well with the image.
# ds85 Pet photos are such a cliche, but they're also cute. Make an interesting photo of a pet today.
Ginger saw me going to the place where her treats are stored. She sat down and started to bark for a goodie. She is throwing her head up when she barks and makes the ears stand out straight:-)
first lessons of my life were indeed feminine..
of womb and vagina...
I protested vigorously but was born.
those lessons are beyond my grey cells,
they're in my blood.
Later,
from the formal schools of life, i met a female,
who wrote on a black board in white letters..
"the female of the species is more deadly than the male"..
she was borrowing from a male-Kipling- i didnt know that then.
but 'deadly' was a word out of my refernce at that time.
so she suggested dictionary with sharp contempt.
blinded by the feminine lessons of life-
of wombs and vaginas-
I still explore the dimensions of that word-'deadly'.

My linen jacket --first one is an outline and paint for detail: and the second one has more line work with color to define outline, texture, and tone. I could not have tackled this subject a few weeks ago - feels great! The version with more lines looks too harsh for my taste -- my cross hatching (for tone) looks like fur to me - and I think its because it reflects that I am uncomfortable with this style -- I just love to get to the painting part - and loose works well with my temperament.
